I am unable to progress in the game because I cannot move the lever by the large caged rodent I was captured with. It says the "button is blocked." I assume I've not done something, but I've gone through 2 walkthroughs step by step and I can't figure out what it is. I have poisoned the meat and killed the worm, saved the woman and killed the evil knight. Finished the furnace room and the kitchen. Have 2 coins and 2 teardrop emeralds which I have given to the woman's baby and placed in the gate.

Running around dizzily now! Any suggestions?

I found this in an online walkthrough:

Quote:
Use the lever on the strange device on the ground. We can’t use it yet. Look at the device. See how there’s symbols on the front panel? We have to get a certain combination in order to be able to pull the lever.

Where have we seen these kinds of symbols?

Is this where you are?

No, that's for a different lever to be pulled in the first part of the game. But thanks for trying!

Oh, okay. Here's the walkthrough I was looking at, just in case it isn't one that you had already consulted.

I believe Ana said she played this game multiple times - maybe she would be able to help you out.

Hi Draclvr. Tormentum Dark Shadow was a nice game to play an not at all easy. Perhaps its a little presumptuous of me, but why not check out my very detailed Tormentum Dark shadow walkthrough. You can find it on my site at www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl It's Dutch but with a little creative translating from Google Translate you wil be ok. The link to open the walkthrough is in the right hand frame of my site

Oh, bless you, Marinus-Louis! I didn't even think to check your text walkthroughs! I think what I'm missing is the 3rd gold coin, but I sure can't find it. I'm off to check it out.

And, yes, that's one of the walkthroughs I've used, Marian, thanks!

EDIT: Well, thanks to your walkthrough, I figured out what I was doing wrong! You used a simple word in the walkthrough - drag. I had to DRAG that handle to make it move to either the right or the left to free the rodent and get the last coin! I was just clicking on the handle and the button. THANK YOU!

Good......it's allways nice to know that my walkthroughs are of use to other gamers, even if the are in Dutch. I don't get that many compliments anymore these days, so I'm pretty pleased right now. Apparently gamers are taking it for granted that they can find a good walkthrough just like that without realising that someone has to write them... Hope you can finish Tormentum Dark Shadow

And, I just posted a link to your wonderful text walkthroughs over at Mystery Manor, Marinus_Louis. You have put a lot of effort into this and I can't tell you how much we all appreciate it!

Louis,
Now that text/image walkthroughs are very rare, I appreciate all of yours. There are the "newer" games now on the market, which I have not purchased because of the lack of decent walkthroughs. I find that the video walkthroughs are difficult to follow, and many of those are done by people who are as new to those games as I am, so they are not much of a help to me. because you came out with the WT of Darkestville Castle. I purchased it and with your help, I completed it. Now I am re-playing Tormentum, and because of your detailed WT, I'm moving right along. I believe that I'm speaking for many of our other fellow Boomers, that we appreciate your work more than you can imagine.
Sandy

P.S: Is there any chance that you will write a WT for "The Remains Of Edith Finch"? I just purchased this one, started playing it and I'm struggling right now. So much for Video WT'S LOL

Another reason I dislike the video walkthroughs is the utterly inane commentary accompanying them in many cases!

Thank you for your nice words and nice that you are re-playing Tormentum Dark Shadow. I don't have "The Remains of Edith Finch" but I have seen it on gog.com and they are charging 13,49 euro for it. Unfortenaly my budget for bying games is used for this year.

Thanks for your reply, Louis.
The reason for me buying this game from GOG was because of the lowered price, which might have been a mistake for me, since I'm unable to progress
further than a few minutes into the game due to the lack of a decent walkthrough. I guess it wasn't such a "bargain" after ALL. LOL

Sandy, the best written walkthrough at present that I can find for Edith Finch is here.

Thanks so much, Marian,
Looks like I missed that one when doing my search. According to that walkthrough, it seems that this game is pretty short. The printed WT came out to only three pages
(at a 16 pt. font). If so, that's fine with me. I have so many unfinished games on my PC so that keeps me busy.
