I think you might have some trouble finding this game on a CD. I see one on eBay from a seller in Canada, but it is most readily available as a digital download.

Hi Marian

I have the game I am talking about on disk but it has an error on it when I tried to
load it into my systems win 7 and old Toshiba with win vista it could not find all the
files and came up with an error message.
I saw the seller from Canada, but it does not mention price or what format the game comes
On.

Thank you
Bluto.

There appear to be some disk versions available on Ebay UK and some sellers will ship abroad smile

you can buy it on GOG.com as a digital download together with Dracula 5.
If you not in a hurry than you can wait till GOG has a sale, the wintersale is just over.

Bluto, perhaps the game isn't playable on newer operating systems. A disk doesn't "lose files".

Do you want to post in Glitches?

Dracula 4 and 5 came out in 2013 so it should work on Windows 7 and Vista.
I played both games on Windows 8 for my reviews.

It sounds to me like a DRM-crippled game disc that expects to download at least some of the game's installation files from a remote server -- a server that no longer exists. If you installed and played the game back in 2013, you wouldn't notice it was pulling files off the Internet. Play it now, and it won't be able to download what it needs if the server is gone.

Unless you got a specific message about not being able to read the disc, or the disc is marked up, I wouldn't expect the disc itself to have gone bad.

You have to be very suspicious of game discs from this time period. Unless you know for sure that the disc contains the full game, assume it doesn't.

I suggest buying it on GOG when it is on sale and burning your own disc. GOG sells Dracula 4 and 5 together, but Dracula 4 is really only a "Part One of Two" so you'll want Dracula 5 anyway.

Well obviously I knew GOG had the Dracula game(s) but I posted the Ebay UK link because I thought Bluto wanted a disk version think

[There are also disk versions of Dracula 5 available too.]

Of course neither are inexpensive !! duh

That's not the message you'd get if your computer was having trouble reading the game disc.

The "game has stopped working" error is a bad one to try to fix because it's so vague and so many things can cause it -- drivers, conflict with antivirus, registry problems, malware, etc.

Sometimes the "has stopped working" error is intermittent, and if you start up the game and try again, you can play past the place you got the error the previous time. You might want to reboot before trying again, since the error might be due to something in RAM. Rebooting will drop any corruption that might have gotten into the contents of your RAM. Sometimes rebooting makes a difference, sometimes not.

I think it would be a waste of money for you to try to buy another copy of the game on disc. And since we don't know what's causing the error, the download versions may produce the same error.

1. See if the error repeats, or if you can get past the trouble spot next time you start the game.

2. Try compatibility settings. Even though the game is meant for Vista/7/8 it might work better if set to XP compatibility.

3. Check video drivers. The game may work better with drivers from around the time the game came out. It was certainly not tested with drivers from 2018.
