I loaded the cd rom disk I have into win 7 this time it loaded the disk into the system and when I clicked on play I got the message ( dracula4.exe has stopped working do you want to send more information about the problem to
Microsoft.
That's not the message you'd get if your computer was having trouble reading the game disc.
The "game has stopped working" error is a bad one to try to fix because it's so vague and so many things can cause it -- drivers, conflict with antivirus, registry problems, malware, etc.
Sometimes the "has stopped working" error is intermittent, and if you start up the game and try again, you can play past the place you got the error the previous time. You might want to reboot before trying again, since the error might be due to something in RAM. Rebooting will drop any corruption that might have gotten into the contents of your RAM. Sometimes rebooting makes a difference, sometimes not.
I think it would be a waste of money for you to try to buy another copy of the game on disc. And since we don't know what's causing the error, the download versions may produce the same error.
1. See if the error repeats, or if you can get past the trouble spot next time you start the game.
2. Try compatibility settings. Even though the game is meant for Vista/7/8 it might work better if set to XP compatibility.
3. Check video drivers. The game may work better with drivers from around the time the game came out. It was certainly not tested with drivers from 2018.
