A smile is happiness you'll find right under your nose.

These are excuse notes that school secretaries have actually received. Some of these were in an article in the Detroit News back in the 1970s.

“Please excuse John for being absent Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 33.”

“Ralph was absent yesterday because of a sour throat.”

“Please excuse Joey Friday. He had loose vowels.”

“Please excuse Joyce from jim today.”

“Please excuse Roland from P.E. for a few days. He fell out of a tree and misplaced his hip.”

“Karl was hit yesterday playing football. He was hurt in the growing part.”

“John was absent yesterday because he had a stomach.”

“Please excuse Gloria. She has been sick and under the doctor.”

“Please excuse Sarah from being absent yesterday. She was sick and I had her shot.”

Please excuse Jennifer for missing school yesterday. We forgot to get the Sunday paper off the porch, and when we found it Monday, we thought it was Sunday.

Sally won’t be in school a week from Friday. We have to attend her funeral.

My daughter was absent yesterday because she was tired. She spent a weekend with the Marines.

Please excuse Jason for being absent yesterday. He had a cold and could not breed well.

Please excuse Mary for being absent yesterday. She was in bed with gramps

Maryann was absent December 11-16, because she had a fever, sore throat, headache and upset stomach. Her sister was also sick, fever and sore throat, her brother had a low grade fever and ached all over. I wasn’t the best either, sore throat and fever. There must be something going around, her father even got hot last night.

“Please excuse Johnny for being. It was his father’s fault.”

Have fun with Shane, Joe, and enjoy your nap. grin

I'm also happy it's Friday! happydance12 Well, it's going to be Friday, anyway. Still Thursday night for me. smile Today's work day was not nearly as long as I'd feared, which was great. Tomorrow should be relatively easy, in spite of the fact that I have to visit four stores. Afterward, I should have plenty of time to practice, which is good, as I have a voice lesson on Saturday. presents12

Have a terrific Friday, everyone. winter

My dead tree which fell against the fence/gate is now history, 2 guys took 2 1/2 hours and removed it with practically no damage to anything and took everything away, including a bunch of little piles of stuff I'd been meaning to put in the recycle can. Raked up everything, used a blower on the fence and sidewalk and left the area so neat and clean I'm amazed. Even swept off the tree debris on my roof that I couldn't reach. Oh so good! Nice to have a local, neighborhood service that actually does the hard work and leaves it better than before. Wow. I'm thrilled. Cost a bunch, but it sure was worth every penny. Now on to my next emergency.
