What type of controller did you use to play this game. I have an old xbox controller, but the game does not recognize it. I really do not want to have to purchase a Steam controller, since I do not play many games that need a controller. I have been using mouse and keyboard, but the long jumps can sometimes be hard for me.

If no one here has any personal experience with this, I would suggest googling something like "Doom 2016 best game controller," or words to that effect; you could probably get some info that way. wave

Hi Kazzmo, from what I understand it does recognize xbox360 controllers as long as you have that option checked in the game's set up. I haven't seen a mention of an original xbox controller being used though.

I feel a lot more like I do now, then when I first got here

Marian and Trail_Mystic, Thank you for your responses. I will do some more reading, and see what I can find. My xbox controller is really old and might not even work now. That may be why the game does not recognize it. I may have to keep using mouse and keyboard.

Hi kazzmo,

a wired XBox 360 Controller is probably the most supported gamepad among all games at the moment. It's a sure shot and also quite inexpensive compared to wired XBox One Controller.

I have at least hundred games with gamepad support and my good old XBox 360 Controller never ever let me down before sticks coming too loose and not centering well enough any more after years of extensive use.

Timo

TJL, Thank you. I have a wired XBox 360 Controller that my son gave me. My computer recognizes it and states the device is working properly, so I am good to go there. I do not know anything about using controllers in pc games and Doom 2016 will not let me switch now. But I will keep the controller and use it somewhere down the road. Thank you again for the information,
