What's the deal with the safe in the photo shop? I'm using the stethoscope but I don't understand. cry The dial only turns in one direction. The 10 makes noise once, the 90 always makes noise, sometimes I hear another noise in random places. Darren mentions 5 numbers. That's all I'm getting out of it. What am I missing? duh

From the walkthrough:

Quote:
The safe has a timer and needs 5 digits.

In easy mode, a skip icon will appear at bottom right of the screen after several movements of the dial.

Left click to turn the dial counterclockwise. Turn until a click is heard.

Right click to turn the dial clockwise. Turn until a click is heard.

It sounds like maybe you aren't right-clicking.

Yes, works like a charm when you know what you're doing. Thankfully, I got past the photo developing now too. Time for a break.

Hi again. Now I'm on the boat trying to do something with the transparent foil on the picture but I don't really know what! Nothing's clicking for me, and yes, I am right clicking.

There is something hidden in that area of the boat - have you found it yet?

Hi oldbroad smile

I definitely found this part confusing and ended up watching a very small bit on utube HERE

I watched what I'd already done and then just the very first bit of what came after !!

So as a last resort, if you can't get moving, maybe it would help ??

Cheers.

Mad luck

Marian - I FEEL like I've found everything but will look more closely today. A good night's rest may be all I needed.

Mad - thanks for the video link. We'll see if I need it or not.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, I haven't missed anything and am watching the video but it's "blanking" me off! I don't really want to see the answer when I should be able to figure this out. I am going to watch it though or look in the walkthrough because I'm sick of this puzzle, having been at it for a couple of hours, but need to vent it out first. Sorry, and thank you for listening! smirk

Have you tried using the UHS-Hints for Black Mirror 2 ?

No Jenny100. Thanks for the idea! I'll take a look. They'll probably make me mad too. lol You know, there are some puzzle you just KNOW you'll never get, so you don't mind getting the answer somewhere, but then there are those you THINK you should be able to get...

Sometimes all you need is better instructions about the objectives of the puzzle.

So, I took the UHS hints to 9 of 12 because that was the first one that gave me some info that I didn't have. After 1/2 an hour I finally saw something but the puzzle never prompted me that it was what I was looking for. Also, when I backed out of it Darren said "that's not quite right". However, it was right and I was able to open the safe.

I thought the puzzle would let me know somehow when I hit on the right spot. duh

In fact, now that I solved the puzzle, I watched that portion of the video and finished reading the hints and it SHOULD have told me I solved it????

Yes. As I said. I found this part of the game really confusing.

To my mind, nothing was properly hinted at during gameplay - to give you a decent idea of what to do - OR - actually confirmed when you did get it sorted mad

I went back in and tried it again and this time it DID tell me that I had it right and verbalized the directionals. Anyway, I'm glad it was enough for me to get the safe open and I am now in Chapter 3.

You are so much more patient than I am, oldbroad grin

Okay, now I'm at a piano trying to play a tune with 8 notes and 8 keys. Bobby is tied up upstairs and Tom may come back any minute.

I don't understand the clue one bit. Please help

Thanks!

Try looking at the UHS hints about this here. I think that's probably better than me trying to give hints about it. Hopefully you won't see more than you want to know.

Thanks Marian. I ended up just going one by one on the lock and got the lock opened pretty quickly. Saved and then reloaded a prior save to see if the answer made sense. It did NOT so I'm just moving on. I'll look at the hints to see, but I don't really need the info now.

So, I looked at the UHS hints and went back in the game and tried it out and I don't know how anybody could figure that out. Then, you still don't know the actual code, so I read more hints which told me to read the diary. First, I didn't notice an entry being made to the diary. Second, I rarely look at the diary so...

Anyway, I'm glad I was able to get the answer by trial and error as some games don't let you do that. Even if you hit the right answer you have to actually hear or see the clue (in some games). And thankfully, it was only 3 numbers and not hard to go through them.

I'm wondering how much I used the walkthrough the first time I played this game or if I've gotten more dumb since then. The game is giving me problems! lol

Great that it's solved! And good to know that the game recognizes the solution even if you haven't heard or seen a particular clue. That is definitely a plus. smile

Yea, I like that the game does that but I guess you could miss out on something though. It was the same with that map puzzle. The game didn't acknowledge that I saw the clue but it worked anyway.

I remember being very upset when I played Myst 5 because I missed a lot of the game when it let me solve stuff without really solving it. (I can't remember the exact details now to explain that better. Somewhere there's a thread about it though.)
