Bluto,
You can purchase "JULIA" from GOG for $19.99 as a download

Bluto, Do you have the original JULIA or the 2014 remake JULIA Among The Stars? I enjoyed both. GOG says the remake will play on Vista and higher and Steam minumum is Vista with Win7 and higher recommended.

Bluto, being as you are having a technical problem, I have moved your post over to Glitches to see if someone might be able to help you get the game working.

I can't tell if your error is because of your game disc being bad. It would have been easier to get help back in 2012 when the game was released. Google isn't providing any info and keeps giving results for the unrelated julia programming language.

Were you ever able to install and run this game in the past?
Or is this the first time you tried it?

Did you try running a disc checking program like one of these
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/test-cd-or-dvd-readability-by-running-surface-scan-and-file-test/

Their #5 (Nero DiskSpeed) is the one I've heard of. You can also try copying the contents of the game disc to a folder on your hard drive. It won't "install" the game but if the drive isn't able to read part of the disc it will let you know.

If there's no problem reading the disc, then buying a new one won't do you much good.

The "Among the Stars" remake had better gameplay than the original J.U.L.I.A. but removed the "good ending", leaving you only a choice of two unhappy endings. I suppose the developer thought it was more "realistic" but I liked having the choice of a more positive ending in the original. I suppose you can still watch the original ending on YouTube, but it would have been nice if it had been an option in the "Among the Stars" game itself.

Anyway, check the disc and make sure this isn't caused by a problem reading the disc.

hi Bluto, If you have tried Jenny100's suggestions and still have trouble you could email support@cbe-software.com they may be able to help. They were very helpful when I had a glitch with "Among the Stars". I purchased both games as downloads otherwise I could have sent you the disc for JULIA.

Hi blackbird

I have run this game all the way to the end without any problems the first time I ran
it now the 2nd time I am running on win7 I think it depends on the system you run it on
I will probably only run on xp or Vista.I will try on a different system.

Thank You Bluto

Let us know how well it runs on XP.
According to results of a Google search, the disc version of J.U.L.I.A. used SecuROM, which may explain why the game doesn't work on current versions of Windows 7.

You can try a NoCD.

Games with elaborate forms of DRM (like SecuROM) that work by using disc reading speed are doomed to failure. Over time DVD drives will read at different rates, or read speeds may fluctuate, which makes the DRM fail and the game not run (or if "trigger functions" are used, will cause crashes that eventually become so bad that the game can't be completed). The DRM never slowed down actual pirates, but eventually it makes legally purchased games unusable without a NoCD/No-DVD.

Some DRM also blacklisted legal software, like Nero and Microsoft's Sysinternals tools. So if you had these utilities on your computer, the DRM prevents the game from running. DRM was and is such a ripoff for people who legally purchased games.
