Hi - I'm replaying this game on an XP computer but it crashes now and then. Currently, I am trying to transition between Chapters 5 & 6 and it has crashed 3 times. Will try again later but hoping maybe somebody has some SIMPLE solution to try.?

If the game is crashing when it tries to play a cut scene, you could try skipping the cut scene using the spacebar or Escape key on your keyboard. If you hit the spacebar (or Escape) at the right instant, it may prevent the cut scene from trying to load whatever is causing the crash.

Thanks Jenny. I'll give that a try if it crashes again. It finishes the cut scene and then says "loading". That's actually when the crash occurs. I'll update a little later.

Well, I tried letting it do it's thing and it crashed. Then I tried using the escape key 2 different times and it crashed. Don't know what happened then because now I cannot even get to the cut scene. It gets stuck like phonograph records used to get stuck. I'll give it a rest and try again later.

Maybe try a save game from the start of Chapter 6.
There are two sets of save games at nicouzouf

Are the second set of saves in French?

In the first set, I'm not sure which one would be the start of Chapter 6.

Well, I replayed a portion of the game and did two things differently and Chapter 6 loaded fine and I was able to save and am playing now. (Go to the hints board to see what I did different if you're interested.)

Thanks for finding the saves for me Jenny, even though I ended up not using them.

Don't know if this will help but here are some comments I have on this game.

"Road to India - best with Win98SE but runs with WinXP
Do not set compatibility. Will crash to desktop on major scene changes, so save often.
Crashes in Win98SE after Quit with DirectX Help problem but does not effect game.
Probably the above is caused by modern video cards."

Did not find any good Google hits on this problem.

Thanks Robert Gault. I found that if I replayed some of the game doing something different the problem was solved. For instance, in this particular part I originally picked up some matches and the game kept crashing trying to load Chapter 6. When I replayed I did not pick up the matches and there was no problem at all moving into Chapter 6 so I think the matches were the problem, and even though I didn't pick them up, they were in my inventory when I needed them in Chapter 6. Weird!

I tried to purchase "Road To India" from Fireflower Games.and they e-mailed me saying that this game is no longer available because of "problems". I Don't know if they were selling the boxed version or the Download. I think that I may have the original boxed version on my "shelf", but I'm not sure. I'm sure it wouldn't run on my WIN 10 64 bit PC, anyway. It's not available as a download from any of the major game sellers. Look out for phony sites if you are looking for a download of this game, especially when they are offering it for "free".

There's some more information regarding the download version towards the bottom of my thread in the hints section Sandy. Apparently, Amazon has it for download but it doesn't seem to work well and may also only be a watered down version of the game. Sounds like it's a good thing that Fireflower made it unavailable. I wish the original game would come out on download for newer operating systems
