It's Released!

GOG has a special going until May 15th - Purchase Deadfire and get Wasteland 2 for free!

Here are the details: https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_ii_deadfire_wasteland_2

For Steam-a-philes here's the link to the Steam release: https://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/560130/

Woohoo! happydance Dang, we've got tons of work around the house this weekend, but I'm thinking that my back is feeling a little tweaky and I should probably rest up while playing Deadfire of course! lol

******************************************************

Apologies folks, I'm a little late getting this one published, but seemed to be fun enough to make this posting a sticky again. A digital scavenger hunt!

From Versus Evil and Obsidian Entertainment:

"Video games publisher Versus Evil in partnership with Obsidian Entertainment today unveiled a digital scavenger hunt for all Pillars of Eternity fans that lets them unlock special in-game items for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire when it releases on May 8th, 2018.

The Explorer’s Society Scavenger Hunt encourages gamers to search for secret codes ‘hidden’ in a variety of online and printed promotional assets for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. To take part, they simply have to sign up at the official website www.deadfirescavenger.com by using their existing Obsidian account, or by creating a new one. After connecting their Steam profiles, they can start hunting down codes wherever they can find them and then enter them on Obsidian.net. Doing so unlocks up to 10 digital in-game items. Each item requires a different number of codes to unlock and progress is tracked via the official site."

Have fun! thumbsup

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
News release from Obsidian Entertainment

"Greetings fans!

We know you're as excited as we are about the upcoming launch of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game -- significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make sure every inch of it is awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the Backer Beta.

With this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to polish and put those finishing touches on the game.

Our new launch date will be Tuesday, May 8, 2018. To tide you over until then, you can look forward to plenty of Deadfire-related news and content coming in the weeks and months.

See you all soon in the Deadfire!
-Obsidian"

This looks like it's going to be be good.

I've been away in Vancouver for three months dealing with nasty medical stuff and it's good to be back here looking at upcoming games. I've been playing baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale on my tablet while I've been away. Not that that's a bad thing, but I've missed my computer and my games.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Wow, Hagetha - I'm really glad you checked in! I was thinking you were abducted or something and about to send you a PM, of course if you were abducted you wouldn't have gotten it anyway unless the aliens had internet and I've heard that their service providers aren't that hot. grin

It's good to see you are back, I hope recovery is going well.

I too am stoked for this release. I did a few beta runs and while I couldn't get very far, what I saw was pretty cool. It has a little bit of an (old school) Neverwinter Nights feel because of the nautical/coastal theme. Graphics were quite good as well, good lighting effects. I only got a little ways into the story, but it looks like a good romp.

I feel a lot more like I do now, then when I first got here

Hey all, it's my partner who is ill -- has been for three years and counting...hopefully counting for a while yet. In a sense I was abducted, all the way to Vancouver for three months of rain and hospital sitting. I myself seem to be disease-proof, fortunately. Also in the middle of a renovation so my computer has been out of reach for a while.

I have many games to catch up before I'll allow myself to buy this one but it's on the list, definitely on the list.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

So, quite the dynamic time for you - Positive meditations go out to your partner for strength and recovery. Take care of yourself as well throughout all that activity.

I've been saving myself for the Deadfire release. While there are a number of really interesting games available, I decided to rebuild my game starter Fallout 4 fortress at the Starlight drive-in while waiting, by leveraging a newly learned console command allowing me to ally the location/workshop to my character. It's Institute based and ridiculously detailed, but one of those "Zen and the art of Fallout" things lol

Take care,
TM smile

Thanks, Trail. I do meditate. Very helpful. Orc-bashing and Supermutant slaying are also helpful. grin

Just in time, too, I'm right back into the whole top-down game view, having just played IWDEE, BGEE and BG2EE on my Android tab while I've been away from my computer.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I think you will enjoy it. It's built like an older school game, but with updated mechanics and graphics. I haven't had a chance to play through the last beta release, but knowing Obsidian, it will continue to improve. thumbsup

I might just have to take a break from storming around Skyrim and have a gander at this. I was getting so good at everything I Legendaried my Archery skill just for a challenge...and the dratted skill is already back to 50 after only about two hours of play time.

Hagatha, may you have 5000 more posts smile

Just an FYI, for anyone that took part in the Beta and downloaded their release from GOG, you need to un-check the "Beta channel" selection under Configure Game and Override Features of the game in order to get the updates that will turn your game into the true production release.

It's a gorgeous day here, breezy and sunny. I'm off for a hike, and downloading the game while I'm out. I'll give it a gander this evening, though I am still in the middle of a game of Skyrim (though Skyrim isn't really a game, is it? It's more like an occupation).

EDIT: Soooo...do tell. How is it?

Ah, Phooey. I guess I'm not cut out for these games. As with the first Pillars game, I found the combat to be ridiculously difficult and finally decided I wasn't having enough fun to justify spending the time on the game. It seems odd, since I'm a long-time veteran of the old Bioware games and never had any difficulty getting through them or feeling as though I was just not up to it, even on first play. These games seems like fun at first, but after a while the combat is just unrelenting, even in early-on quests.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Have you tried tweaking the difficulty levels? My hand eye coordination isn't what it used to be, so I usually go in easy until I learn the ins and out of the game. Pillars' combat is challenging, I find targeting my opponent very difficult at times. I ended up doing a number of levels in Relaxed mode until I got the hang of it. Still though, it is a little on the crazy side at times, not a game that would move me to do marathon game play sessions.
