Where are you talking about? What stores have lobster tanks? I've only seen them at restaurants that serve lobster.

i used to see them in kroger and walmart, now i go to both they are gone.

When I was on vacation earlier this month we took a ride on a boat. One of the captains (all 3 of the crew were introduced as captains) talked about various creatures living in the water. He said in the reason you drop lobsters in the hot water alive is that when they die they start to release toxic chemicals which you need to boil off. Some restaurants apparently zap them with electricity first, but he says that actually takes longer to kill them so its less humane not more humane.

I don't like sea food. So I wont eat them either way.

The boat ride was par of the bus tour. It was actually more interesting than I thought it would be.

Well, that explains that! Guess I live in the middle of the country where we don't have live seafood in places like grocery stores!

We don't have them here, either, Drac! At least not that I've seen!

Asian grocery stores around Chicago used to have them... don't know if they do anymore as I moved from there many years ago... but we used to go there and get both lobster and crab.
