The kind people over at gignews.com have just published an article of mine on writing for games, My Fingers are Blistered and Bleeding.

http://www.gignews.com/careerfeatures/gamewriter.htm

I hope it's something of interest to you all.

"So then he says it's enough to take aim! What's that supposed to mean?!?"

A well-written piece, aimed at the serious game writer?

Is there an unbridgeable gulf between the hobbyist game creator who does it for fun, and professional / semi-pro game creators who are seeking to at least cover their costs?

Used to answer to "Peter Smith", now answers to "Peter Rootham-Smith"

The article was aimed at anyone with an interest in writing in a game context.

There is definitely a gulf, but I wouldn't say it was an unbridgeable one. Sometimes it's simply a case of someone adjusting their attitudes to get themselves into a professional frame of mind. The key is realising it's not "just for fun" any longer.
