I give up!

I cannot figure out how to charge the car battery. I put it on the crate next to the bicycle and I know there is a device on the bike but I don't know how to hook up the cables. Are the cables on the battery or the bike or do I have to find them somewhere? Nothing that I have in my inventory is working.

I have played beyond this part but I have to do this part. Brings up another question though. I went down into the chimney but didn't find anything to actually do down there. Is that right?

For the car battery, I think you are just missing this by an inch. Look at the top of the rear wheel, as there is something to click on there - this will automatically attach the cables.

Whatever you tried to go down, the walkthrough does not refer to it as a chimney - where in the mansion does this take place?

Maybe the fireplace in the room to the right of the front door that goes down to the basement?

Come and kick me in the back end please!!

Marian, I had clicked on the device numerous times and heard the little whoosh sound it made but never noticed the cables attaching to the battery. I must have clicked the cables off again every time before I spun the pedal because whenever I spun the pedal it mentioned connecting the cables. I see it now and I'll see what happens. The game is not alt/tab friendly so I had to exit out without actually playing, just wanted to test it out again before responding here.

And, yes, sorry about the chimney thing. Draclvr is correct. I mean that fireplace she mentioned.

It's not looking to me like there is something else to do with the fireplace.

It's been a long time since I played, but I seem to remember that you can use the fireplace to get to the basement, but not do anything down there until you finish a bunch of stuff in the house.

Didn't get much of anywhere. Finished the main game but don't know what to do in "the last visit". I'll be so, so glad to finish this game. I am finding it boring!

That's interesting. I played the game when it first came out. I have no idea how I would feel about it now if I were to play it again. I hope the next game you play will be more to your liking.

Marian - you know when I get frustrated bad words come out of my mouth. I played the original game years ago also and don't remember not liking it but I was not scared by it like a lot of people. This game itself is good but I cannot stay immersed in it when I have to revisit places over and over trying every item in my inventory on every available hot spot and that is where I am having a problem. THAT bores me! I'm sure it is me just being dense to the clues eek

I do recall not doing very well with the clues in this game and looking at the walkthrough a lot. I also remember there being a great discussion on GameBoomers about the plot of the game and people's ideas about it.

Ah, I found the discussion here. You might enjoy reading (or rereading) it after you are done with the game. smile

Thanks. I will look at that discussion when I finish the game.

Last night I opened up the walkthrough to see how much (page space) this part of the game is and while doing that I saw something about the kitchen. I did not read it but just seeing those words gives me a focus. I have had hints about the doorknobs so I guess I will muster up the energy to try, try again smile

I surprised myself that I got his far into the game without asking for help or looking at the walkthrough. Many times I wanted to.

Finally finished the game today. It took me almost as long to read that discussion from 2006 lol. Wow!
