I am just wondering if anybody else is having trouble with their Steam account these last couple of days. My user name and account name show up at the top of the screen but my wish list does not and when I click on wish list under the name it shows that there is nothing there (but there should be). "My recommendations" doesn't come up; it says to sign in. If I click sign in, I get an error message that says: There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later.

This happened yesterday but it was okay when I tried again later. It is happening again today. It is making me nervous. I just want to know if it is a Steam problem affecting other people also or if it is something on my end or with just my account.

I've been on steam the last few days alot and I am not having any problems. Sorry you are why don't you run ccleaner and try again.

Jenny100 - thank you so much. I sure hope they get this straightened out soon. I can access my library but am worried if I shut down my computer I may be locked out of that too.

ARGH! It was okay yesterday and today it is not!

When I boot up my computer, Steam verifies my account. Can the fact that I haven't been shutting down my computer as often, be the reason that this is happening? Today again, it did not show my personal recommendations or wish list. I restarted my computer and it shows now. Maybe after a couple of days of not shutting down or restarting, Steam can no longer verify me?

Whether you shut down your computer or not shouldn't make a difference.
What you have in your browser cache might or might not have an effect.
What Steam has in their server cache may have an effect, and that's not something you have any control over.

If you delete your browser cache and delete all Steam-related cookies and still have the problem after logging in, then most likely the problem is on Steam's end.

Thanks Jenny. It just started doing that this week since I've been home. Doesn't seem to be a problem as long as I shut down or restart my computer though.

I'll monitor it some more.

I have my Steam account set to NOT run in the background. So I don't have to go through this "checking" every time I boot up. It only verifies my account if I start a Steam game.

I like it ready and waiting for me.

Definitely much more convenient that way!

Haven't had this problem with Steam anymore since I've been shutting my computer down every 48 hours. Also, no loss of internet.

I hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying that!!!
