Welcome to Chuck Norris Appreciation Day! yes

Or should it be Chuck Norris Adoration Day? headscratch

It seems old Chuck can do no wrong. lol

We had a great day here.....I mean a day of great heat. oops

It was cloudy in the morning though, so I took the dogs to the park, and then we went to Walmart. yes

That's about it. I did some laundry, more as an afterthought, when I finally (and reluctantly) decided I'd better do something. duh

There's always tomorrow, right? wink

Have a happy day everyone.

Terrific Tuesday ya'll puppy

It's another hot one in AL.

I've opened up the doggie door so the boys can let themselves in and out. We had to shut it off for years because of Keoki. So, Lil Soot will go out it, but when he wants to come in, he stands on the outside and barks. I walk to the door and say, "Lil Soot, come in" and he pops right in. Skywalker was standing inside with his head stuck out the door, making a perfect opening for all the mosquitoes in Al to come on in. rotfl wavegirl

Spent the day yesterday helping my friend who is wheelchair bound, get to the doctor for some severe leg cramps. Learned a lot about a previous HMO medical facility I'd belonged to many moons ago.

Awesome new facility, 3 stories of wonderfully laid out offices and it was neat and clean and oh so nice. EXCEPT: Handicapped access and parking were almost non-existent. Only 5 spaces up front and a small parking lot for such a big institution. We played the round about game for 20 minutes before someone finally left.

Although the building was huge, there were very few people in the waiting rooms. Strange. And the 'receptionists' who were plentiful and friendly, spent most of the time talking among themselves. When they stopped, they were fine, but would take 'incoming' phone calls right in the middle of checking my friend in for the appointment. They also did that consistently with everyone.

She saw her doctor who thought she might have a blood clot in the leg and ordered a STAT ultrasound. She explained it had to be done today since her 'helper' me of course, was not available later. He wrote up the paperwork and sent us downstairs to the lab.

Welllllll, the lab doesn't do ultrasounds! Huh? What huge facility doesn't do ultrasounds? We then bounced back and forth upstairs and downstairs to the receptionists and lab people to find out where to go for the STAT test. Found the gals upstairs still chatting happily as before and not having ANY information about how or where to get the ultasound. I found that one a bit weird. How could they not know where they do ultrasounds? They spent a lot of time looking up phone number of different facilities and being on hold and asking questions and getting transferred, etc. BIG HMO, all over San Diego County. More than 10 facilities and some satellite places in small areas.

Final word from receptionist after waiting for 20 more minutes was: they could do the test downtown (15 miles away in city traffic). She can't drive that far (stroke left her one hand driving and she's not good at traffic). Soooooo I got smart and asked about the hospital (about a mile away) and the Emergency Room or Urgent Care. Surely they would have EVERYTHING and every type of test equipment. Another 20 minutes and finally we were sent there, no appointment needed of course. Just check in and wait.

Happily, the wait wasn't too bad (crowded waiting room with lots of sick (not really injured) people. She was seen pretty fast due to the 'blood clot possibility' and the entire Emergency staff was awesome!

Oh I forgot to mention parking again. NO parking nearby the doors. Most of the parking was sealed off for construction. The Emergency Parking nearest the Emergency Room had only 2 spaces (both taken) and a THREE tiered, zig-zag, ramp that went from ground level, switch-back 3 times, and rose about 20 feet! Impossible to push a wheelchair up that obstacle course unless you are really strong. BUT they have 'valet' parking for 3 bucks so we finally opted for that. Nice.

Four hours later, she's done, no blood clot, AND the doctor did blood work. Dunno why HER doctor didn't do that in the first place? Surprise was she's DANGEROUSLY ANEMIC. Wow, never expected that. Almost at 'transfusion' level per the emergency doctor. Got a prescription for Iron and will go from there.

I go with her today in a few to see the original doctor to get test results and hope she chastises him for not checking the bloodwork. Then again, maybe he was going to do that 'after' the ultrasound. Benefit of the doubt for him.

In any case, had fun people watching at the Emergency Room and am hoping nobody was terribly contagious. Time will tell. scared
