Hi Katsmom & danyboy!!

So good to see you over here !! Welcome to everyone from TAC forum.

I just found out tonight and asked about it in the General Discussion section. Was referred over here. It's a sad thing, but regardless of the controversy, head banging, and dissention among the troops at TAC, we were all part of a family with one common love of "Adventure Games". I for one think any (within reason) discussion is good. When people no longer bother to join a forum to be heard anymore, because it's so "bad", thats when they should close-up shop and go home. TAC had a LOT of members. GOOD members. There can't be that many people in a "family" without having different views and questions on just about everything. I hope they re-think their position, but if not, oh welllll!

"THANK YOU GAMEBOOMERS FOR TAKING IN ALL OF US "LOST SOULS" praise .

**Milee10**

P.S. danyboy, they have a spellchecker over here wink !

Milee10! It's so good to 'see' you, too!

*can someone kindly direct me to the SMILEYS around here...* *wink, wink*

Yes, I'm certainly a 'lost soul' right now; but glad to find some lost friends here.

Including both sent and received messages, I think I've lost over 500 Private Messages over at the TAC forum... *screams and tears her hair out*

I keep thinking about the youngest Nancy Drew forum fans... will they find the herinteractive forum, or remain 'adrift' forever...?

welcome everyone!!

Katsmom, there are two different ways to reply to a topic... either type in the white box at the bottom of the topic (the quick reply option) OR click on the beige Reply button which takes you to another screen where you can select smilies smile You can use them in the quick reply box too, but you must know how to type them out smile

10 posts and you can pick an avatar for yourself from the extensive selection, or link to your own. Have fun!!

Hugs

Ummm... okay, then I AM the only one who's up late around here.

Actually, I have just over two weeks of vacation left before I go back to work. And then, I'll be waking up at this time, rather than going to sleep... rolleyes

So this should be one of my last 'all night parties' for awhile.

Okay -- on to GAMES. My teenage daughter loves the SIMS. She'd play it a lot more often, if I'd just let her have the computer. *hehehe...

I just finished playing Dark Fall, and haven't started a new game yet. I have several sitting here, begging to be chosen. I mostly stay away from the newest games, and wait until OTHER people have played them first. I'm still catching up on a huge "black hole" in my life, when I didn't play adventure games for many years. I started out, though, in the mid-80's with the interactive text games on a Commodore 64 computer. eek Now, THOSE games were tough!

In a few weeks, I'll be doing the same: driving my own daughter to high school before going home to get ready for work. *sigh* Where has my vacation gone...?

It really is time for me to get some sleep

But I'll be back soon.

Welcome to all you guys! I think you will find this forum VERY different from the TAC one. I stopped going there due the "in-fighting" amoung various members. GB is the BEST! <img border="0" alt="bravo" title="" src="graemlins/bravo.gif " />

YOU guys and gals are the best! Thank you for making me feel so welcome, at a time when I felt so LOST. wave

I'm deciding what to play next, among my group of games. I have Riven and Myst III: Exile (DVD versions, as I couldn't get my CDs to work on my XP -- and struggled all through Myst); CSI: I and II ; Law and Order II (already played the first one); and two TAC games that I anticipate tech problems with -- Schizm: Mysterious Journey (I) and Post Mortem. I bought a new version of Schizm to try, as the first one I tried kept crashing my computer to the 'blue screen of death' eek -- and Post Mortem isn't supposed to work with my Intel onboard graphics controller at all. So the last two games are "iffy" on my list.

I have more older games coming in the mail soon. When I go back to work, I won't have as much time to play -- so I'm pretty much set for the next YEAR.

My favorite games (so far) are Syberia I and II. I especially loved how they played on my XP with onboard GC, without problems! I've played all of the Nancy Drew games, having started playing them with my daughter (who still loves them, too). I've played Dracula: TLS, and will soon receive the first game of the series. Also: The Riddle of the Sphinx, The Omega Stone, The Mystery of the Mummy, Beyond Atlantis II: New Worlds Await You; Sanitarium (with great difficulty, likely due to my onboard GC); and Dark Fall. I think I may have left one or two games out, but... oh well. wink

You should try the DVD version of Schizm.

Hi Jenny100. I'd love to, but I've never been able to find it in local stores. I prefer to go out and buy my games the old-fashioned way. smile

But I've begun to realize that's not always possible for adventure gamers. rolleyes

I've had games crash many times to my Windows desktop -- but this is the only game that actually crashed my computer (repeatedly). I'm hopeful that the newer release won't do the same, but the game is still sitting at the bottom of the pile.

I've never seen it in local stores either. But if I insisted in buying all my games in local stores I wouldn't have 5% of the games I've bought online.

I know some copies of the CD version of Schizm shipped with bad CD's, and it sounds to me like that's what you had.

Schizm DVD is hard to find anymore (I think - but I haven't looked in a while either). I loaded the DVD version on my laptop and it plays fine - but I didn't play much of it so it could crash later on. One day I will get brave enough to tackle it laugh

Post Mortem - forget it on an onboard chipset - it loaded fine - opening movie played fine but once the game started the characters moved soooooooooo slow it was pathetic ('course as jerky as they moved that might be an improvement) lol I'm going to see if I can put more RAM to the video card and see if that helps but so far it's a no go.

You have a bunch of great games on their way Katsmom. I loved Sanitarium. That game will probably be more of a problem with XP than the type of card since it's an older game. I haven't tried to run it on XP yet. I thought the first Drac game was terrific - I had to throw my body over the monitor at one part when my son came in the computer room, however (those that played the game know what I'm talking about) wink I also loved Riddle of the Sphinx and to a lesser extent The Omega Stone and I loved Dark Fall.

As to Riven and Exile - both are beautiful games, espceially Exile - they're just not my personal favorites. I haven't played the two Law & Orders nor the two CSI's - I really need to - love the tv shows. Maybe when I'm done with Outcast I'll start them since I really, really need to widdle down my unplayed stack - it's starting to get embarrassing blush

Hi and thank you all for the welcome! I think we'll all be happy over here. There are a lot of pluses and extras in this forum. Ready made avatars (thank God), great smileys, don't have to cater to any one game publisher, built-in game activities (I'm not any good at), and best of all, a WONDERFUL group of people!!

Katsmom. That "void" you feel will disappear in short order. All things happen for a reason, and I already think that this forum, and the closing of the "other" one was a blessing in disguise happydance . I'm going to look at this in a positive manner.

The only thing I'm having a problem with is figuring out how everything works! Already printed out your FAQ section, but have a little question about some of the buttons. Humor me blush .

There's a Topic & Reply button on both top & bottom of the page (tan color). Does it matter which one is used? I noticed that by clicking on "Topic" so as to have easy access to "smileys" and such, that it turns into a "new" post, instead of staying in one thread (I had meant to stay in another post about TAC Forums, when I ended up creating this NEW one). Does that mean the "QuickReply" box has to be used if a person wants to remain in a single thread?

Next. There is "close"--"feature topic"--"move"--"delete" buttons. How and when are these used? Don't want any accidents to happen to me or to someone else because of not knowing what I was doingconfused. Can I experiment with all these little things without ending up with a post nobody can read eek .

Finely. What is the button with the "& down arrow?

Okay, I'm done with the stupid questions.

Thanks!
**Milee10**

Hi Milee10,

right, the topic button starts a new topic, in the discussion forum. The beige reply buttons allow you to respond to a topic and has clickable smilies, if you use the quick reply box you have to type them in.

The close, feature, move and delete are used by us Mods smile I seem to remember from my member only days that if you click on any of those, it says you don't have the authority to use them smile

Oh and you need a space after your words for the smileys to work properly... just edited your post so you got em wave

syd and Salar. The pleasure is all mine!

Thank you tigger! Still didn't tell me what the (") is with the down arrow, after "edit"--"quote" at the top of our replies.

Thanks again!
