Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! smile

Gatorlaw-LOL! My name is Laura but that user name seems to always be taken, so I use unlaura because when I very first got internet service that was the username they gave me, un being the first two letters of my last name. wink Iknow, not very creative!

Sorry about that Katsmom - I'm confusing what you played to what you haven't laugh

Those integrated video chips are a pain. I generally build my own computers but this last time bought one "off the rack" so to speak. It came with onboard sound and video and before I walked out of the store I had a stand alone video card in hand. Used to be all adventure games could be played on low end machines - not any more - the system specs are getting up there with FPS and RPGs. That's why I have a few computers sitting around me - one with XP, one with W98SE and my trusty old P133 with W95 and it's whopping one meg video card and SB16 thumbsup I get bored with just roaming around looking at stuff - I want to converse with people - find out what's going on in their world and yell at them for doing something dumb lol

That's okay, syd; even I can't remember sometimes what I've played! In a few weeks or so, I should have 14 adventure games in my UNPLAYED pile - eek - so as you can see, we have THAT in common, too!

So, syd -- can I join the dark side guild of "Not A Clue" who's game shelves runnuth over? laugh

Katsmom with only 14 games in your unplayed pile you are a mere baby - wait till you've been around us for a while evil We hang out in the RPG/Action forum. I'm a recent convert to said Dark Side of the gaming world (hence the "not a clue") - I dipped my toes into the murky waters of RPGs and found out I love them - lots of stuff to do, people to talk to, places to go to-ing and fro-ing (I love to go to-ing and fro-ing). Makes a nice change from adventure games.

Thanks, my unplayed pile has gotten considerably smaller since school let out and I'm not volunteering in my son's class room! By the way I can't find my smileys where are they or where have they gone? I'm so used to them being right in front of me! Anyway thanks for the great welcome. I'm so glad not be an orphan anymore. What is Gothic by the way? Right now I am getting ready to play Aura, already played Missing thought it was great. Pretty cool stuff going on in that one.

You see that's why the dark side is so insidious Katsmom - I used to be an "I refuse to play anything other than adventure games" person too - then one day this sneaky little game found it's way onto my hard drive and just like Myst 10 years earlier - I was hooked [sigh] I fear there is no hope for me - I now swing both ways whistle

Gigi, I'm sorry for not answering your question - Gothic is an RPG laugh

I will say this for RPGs... they're widely available in every store I visit! Of course, I go to those stores looking for ADVENTURE games... but all I see are shelves full of RPGs and Action games.

So I can see the possibility of my breaking down one day, and taking one off the shelf. MAYBE. whistle

Playing more than one genre means never having to say you can't find a new game to play. happydance

RPGs do have fighting, but some of them are like a whole bunch of adventure games put together. Years ago I had no idea that some of the games I played were of a different genre, just thought they were adventure games with fighting. rolleyes A consistent favorite over on the RPG forum is Divine Divinity, that quite a few "adventure only" folks have played and enjoyed. Lots of help there too for it, should anyone want to give it a try. devil
