It definitely is modeled after the original Ravenhearst. I'm enjoying it; I have always reveled in the "super puzzles", and since I was forewarned that it is what it is, am definitely not going to complain that it is 'all HOPs' or anything else. MCF makes quality games, and I just hope this doesn't supplant their usual Biggie at Thanksgiving time. Looking for a story? It's just that the Dalimars haven't stopped messing with us (and the timeline) and be ready for them to give us another evil shot in the future. Mwahahah

I agree! The newer games were getting too much like any other casual game. I like the older Mystery Case Files format. This was a pleasant surprise! bravo

Can anyone comment on the *quality* of the hidden object segments in this new game? I remember the thing I liked about the old MCF games were that the hidden object scenes were HARD and challenging, not to mentioned *timed*. I get that some people don't like the "new formula" in MCF games and welcome a throwback. My view is that you can have great quality in either the old or new style; it all comes down to designs and content. In the older MCF games, not only were there one HOS after another, but they were often set in the same rooms! Is "Rewind" like this too? I don't mind the repetition if there is challenge and great design.

In the older games, some objects were really tiny and virtually hidden, and they were hard to see in 800x600 resolution. Today's games have higher resolutions, and yet hidden objects are bigger and easier to find.

Also, did Big Fish Games remove its forum for this game?

I agree with others re: Too many HOs and not crazy about the throw back style screens. But there seems to be more HO lovers out there than not since I have been noticing more and more games the HOs are Increasing, or is it my Patience that is Decreasing?

Thank God for my collection of favorite games that I kept on my hard drive, over 75 games that I can replay down the road, I have a feeling that my game purchases might slow down because the increase of HOs... Were are these Adv. Lite games, they seem to be far and few apart...

GamingPhreak, Big Fish removed their forums completely a while ago; about 2 weeks before they were removed, they announced in the forums that this was going to happen and on what date.

Hopefully someone else will be able to comment on your questions about Rewind. You can always check out the demo, too.

I agree with your disappointment at the resurgence of so many HO scenes in the Casual Adventure genre, Starcom. Maybe there will be a divergence in the future, and there will arise one line of casual games that has gone back exclusively to HO and another that will forge on into Adventure Lite territory without that make-work scene interrupting the adventure. That would be a solution more appealing than the current approach of trying to be all things to all players. We can always hope. happydance

I enjoy hidden object scenes, though not those that are one-at-a time and you can't even see the listed object because it is in a box or under something or you have to smash through a stone wall first and you can't do anything at all until you find that special one listed object that gets things started. I like all the objects to be visible, not depending on a series of other objects to be uncovered first -- at least enough of the object visible that you aren't clicking on every smudge trying to find something.

However my favorite Ravenhearst game was the 2nd one, not the 1st one. Though the 1st one had the best door puzzles -- better than any later game -- the rest of it was boring jigsaws. Not all jigsaws are boring, but the ones in the 1st Ravenhearst game were.

And I liked the 2nd Madame Fate game, Fate's Carnival, because of the variety of puzzles.

So though they're keeping archived forums for the older games, they will be closed and there will be no further discussion in those forums at Big Fish. Any games released by Big Fish after April 30, 2018 won't have a discussion forum at Big Fish at all.

Unless there's a sale going on specific to Collector's Editions, the price would be $13.99.

I wait until there's a good sale where Collector's Editions are priced anywhere from $6.99 to $8.99 and then purchase one of them.

I would wait for a sale; you could then pick it up pretty cheaply if you are interested. Most of the sales now are for non-club members as well.

Good advice. I gave up my Club membership more than 10 years ago, I think. I didn't like the idea of them charging me every month, whether or not I bought and played any of their games (I played a lot less back then). But as it is now, I am free to buy games any time, including the sales, and I enjoy BF that way, without feeling like I have to buy games to make a paid membership "Worthwhile."

Do the door puzzles get more complicated and amusing as the game progresses? I've gotten to the room with the snake oil salesman and thus far it seems to me that the super puzzles are neither challenging nor visually entrancing. If they improve in terms of challenge and cleverness, I may buy Rewind just for those.

The HOs I saw are all ho-hum graphics of ho-hum objects, the kind of screens I despise.

I liked the characterization of Charlotte a lot and even her brother sort of, then I talked to the swindler and lost interest when presented with another dull HO. Still if the super puzzles get good, I could be tempted.
