I've just finished "Mysteries of the Ancestral Estate" (CE) from this series and very much liked the style of it. So will probably play another from the series next yes

But a Magic Map would not have gone amiss - to help cope with all the to-ing and fro-ing the game required laugh

I think this is a great series. These games are a very rigorous memory test too, in particular if you try not to use the hint button!

Oh, I loved that game! One of my favorites in that series. A solid "Adventure" style game, with plenty of good and diverse puzzles, a huge environment to explore, and no pop-ups or timed puzzles that I recall. I've marked it for a Replay. Eclipse Mountain is also very good.

After those two, "Flower of Shadow" though still good will be a bit of let down. I'd go for the "Echoes of Despair" series. "Kingdom of Despair," Revenge of the Witch," and "Castle of Shadows" are all good, so is the first if you're in the mood for almost straight HOs which I never am. I forget the order.

I had exactly the same reaction to Flower of Shadow. (My Notes: "Large and complex game, but not as good as Eclipse and Ancestral, and it has Collectibles/PopUps to boot").

Now, I am going to have to look up both the Kingdom of Despair and the Castle of Shadows series. happydance (I'll skip Echoes of Despair, as I'm not a big fan of HO scenes and find they not only derail the momentum of the story but are burdened with undertones of the ridiculous, as I have mentioned too many times already. ha ha )

Mainly you just need to know that all games discussed are from the developer Orneon, who unfortunately stopped making HOPAs several years ago.

I just found this page listing all their HOPAs.

Yes, but I think some of the titles and wording are getting mixed up making it hard to follow. wink

I called the series "Echoes of Despair." The title is "Echoes of the Past."

Oh, I've done that, too, 8dognight. SO many of these games have almost the same titles, using the same "key words," like haunting, witches, demons, lost and so on. It is hard to keep them straight sometimes!

That wasn't the only thing that confused me. I figured that out when I went looking for the games titled Echoes of Despair.

Also, please don't mind me. I'm not trying to say anything bad about anybody. I have no room in my life to do that. I am easily confused and have always had problems with comprehension. grin
