I do it all the time... They don't really care who eats it, just that they sell food.

family, that may or may not be OK in some restaurants as the meals are designed and priced for young children.

And yet the fast food restaurants will let you order kids meals any time and all the time...

If you are a "regular" customer at a restaurant then I'll bet they wouldn't mind at all...

If it's your first time at a new restaurant then there is nothing wrong with asking if it's OK for you to order from the children's menu.

Also, most good restaurants will have a menu for Seniors age 55 plus, reduced price and lighter/healthier meals for senior appetites.

ARound where I live, it is generally posted on the menu that you need to be a certain age to order off the kids menu. It is usually priced to encourage adults to come eat and bring the family and not meant to be eaten by adults.

edit: I just found this article.

Most of the locally owned restaurants in my area will allow adults to order from the kids' menu. But, as Ana said, the restaurants that don't allow this usually state this on their menus. A good solution is to split an adult order if someone you're dining with is agreeable. My sister and her husband do this all the time.

Around my area they charge extra for splitting a meal. Yeah. Not fair, but it's a 'plate charge' so they say.

The trick to getting a kid's meal without kids, is to go through the drive-thru. That way they can't ask where your kids are. I always got a kid's meal for my Mom, who couldn't eat a bunch and the kid's stuff was awesome. I tried ordering inside and got denied, but the drive-thru worked fine for me when I was collecting goodies in Happy Meals.

I know the kids menu is as BrownEyedTigre said, priced to encourage adults to bring families in but...
Sometimes the kids menu has an item that really appeals to me and I feel disappointed that I can't have it, just because of my age!!
