In your opinion what games out there compare to Zork? I love all the Zork games and would like to play more but since they are not forthcoming with a new game as of yet I would like to play other games like them. Thanks <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/bravo.gif " />

If it's zany humor you want, try The Space Bar and Starship Titanic.

I'm just getting into the Zork games. I've got Return To and Inquisitor. It's nice to know they compare to some of my favorite games.

Harder to find, but very reminiscent of the Zork series are the Spellcasting games (Spellcasting 101, 201 & 301). These are humorous text / graphic adventures that came out in the early 90's published by Legend. They all involve the adventures of Earnie Eaglebeak, a student at Sorcerers University. (kind of like Harry Potter in college, and a bit more risque') They are text games, with graphics included. Some very challenging and fun puzzles too. There is a text parser, where you point & click to build your text commands, so you don't have to type them in if you don't want to, and a compass to click on to indicate what way you want to move.
You might find them on Ebay, or Gametz.com.
They were originally released on Diskette, but later all 3 were included on CD-ROM called "Spellcasting Party Pak".

Metamorphium, The Space Bar is a lot of fun to play. Alias Node is a hard-nosed cop with an alien partner. Their murder investigation takes them to the Thirsty Tentacle, a seedy spaceport bar, where his partner promptly disappears. As Alias interviews the bar's denizens, he is able to enter their memories via a kind of telepathic flashback, thus gaining information which helps him with the investigation. Most of the puzzles are tough but unique and fun.
The only disadvantage to the game is that the murder must be resolved within a specific time period and that there are a limited number of save slots (20, I think) before you have to start overwriting your saves. This means that if you start running out of time, as I did, you may not be able to go back and redo segments to speed things up. I died and didn't have a spot to go back to to avoid this, so I didn't reach the endgame. However, I plan to replay it soon.
I'd grab it at $2.00. My copy was $24.95 at CD Access, but that included the 3 Mac and the 3 Windows disks and box.
