So, as some of you recommended Xing, we started playing it
after we solved Sentinel. I trust you that it is a good game
with nice puzzles, but in my opinion some things are done really bad
(or i am not observant enough):

I do not think the objectives of the game are communicated
clearly enough. So i completed the first level/world i guess
and i found two kind of things:

1. Stone plates with writings on it
2. Some kind of runes

As far as 2 concerned: Unfortunately, it is not clear at all if it is required to find all
runes in a level or not (if i remember correctly, i found 5 out of 6), and if yes: it is really neccessary
to start the whole level over again? This would really suck in my opinion.
If i solved all but 10% of a level, why am i forced to replay the 90% i
solved already?

About 1: Does it matter if i read all stone plates or not?

My last question is: Do the worlds have to be solved in a particular
order? At the beginning, i did some stuff and suddenly were in a foreign world.
I have no way to check if i had been able to start with a different world/level,
which - again - is bad design in my opinion (just a personal preference,
no real argument there).

Thank you for your help. Please be aware that i only want these basic
information and no specific hints,

Mike

Hi Mike,

You start in an intro/tutorial about the controls in the game.
After that you come to the pond with the Golem and that is the central place of the game.
You have thrown a plaque in the pond and the first world opens.

You better read all the plates because on some of them are clues for a puzzle.
You need to find all of the runes, in the pond area you have seen a locked gate with runes on the gate, the runes are not lit yet and the gate is closed.

After the 4th world you go to that gate and you see all but 2 runes are lit, you now can open the gate.

If you miss a rune and you are still in that world you can go back but not everywhere. If you have already finished that world then you reenter that world from the start and go find the missing rune. After you found it and got it push on the escape button to go to the mainmenu and then continue the game.
You don't have to replay the whole world.

About that stoneplates: I don't know if it does matter when you don't read all the stone plates but I know that on some of them are clues for puzzles.

You cannot start wit another level, the sequence is set by the game and is the same for every game.

p.s. for your next game look at the game Moon Castle on Steam, lots of elements of Myst and Rhem.

Thanks Lion, for your helpful post.

I think that having to replay a world from the start
just because one misses one rune is a TERRIBLE design choice.
The typical and much better way would be to just be
able to re-enter the world in the state it was left in and
continue, just like every other game i know does it.

Still the game looks nice enough to continue playing it.

Thanks for the Moon Castle reference, but right now the
only trustworthy review is very bad, so we will wait how
it unfolds. We own tons of games we still have to play anyway,
Xing being only one of them smile
