I still don't know what you want to do here. Why would you throw out the crab cakes? Why do you want to add carrots? As the crab cakes already formed and you want to mix them up with shredded carrots?

crab cake, i brought a bad of them, and do not want to throw them out. Ah, now I see. I misunderstood this statement. Personally, I wouldn't put the shredded carrots into the crab cakes if they are already made up. Carrots keep in the refrigerator for a very long time. When mine start to get old, I just cut them up and toss into a pot of soup. You can also freeze them. Just chop, slice or shred, put into boiling water for a minute or so, then into cold water and drain well. Put into ZipLoc bags and freeze for use later.

I agree with Sparkle. If you are making them from scratch, it might work.
