Zip files are files that have been reduced in size (zipped) so they are easier to move on the net.

There are a number of free and trial zip file openers available, including WinZip and Stuffit.

So will the newer version (I think thats the one I have) play on XP pro in win 95 compatibility?? I may just give this a go again!!!

I never have any luck with my compatibility wizard on mine for any game. So what is the newer version?

Crazylady, I was referring to the newer version of the game 9 - as Mr Lipid and Jenny100 explained, there are several versions of the game out there!!

9 does not play on XP Pro. Sorry.

Yeah I tried that winzip thing when I was trying to play the 11th hour. Never did figure out how to do that. I think I'll take Fred Astaires' advice on this one.

I think there is a problem with the copy "protection" "9" uses in XP. That was certainly the problem I had trying to play it in WineX (a Windows emulator for Linux). Other games that use the 32-bit version of QT 2.12 will usually at least start up in WineX, even if they don't run all that well. But "9" had this stupid copy "protection" problem and would not run at all.

I see a place on crazy lady's shelf reserved for 9, just because....it's been beckoning and won't be denied.

Boy are you ever right! You been looking over my shoulder. I just can't help it! I thought I was the only one that can't keep from getting games I know better than. Good thing is you seem to understand that beckoning. Everybody I know thinks I'm nuts with all the games I have, but someday I'll forget playing them and start all over again.
