So we're playing the first place team last night. Scoring was extremely tight all night. It came down to my last game. If I win the game our team wins three rounds. If I don't, we only win one. I'm down to my last four balls and it looks like we're going to take it if I can make a tough full-table cut at the far end of the table and bring the cue ball back to the near end to break one of my balls out of a cluster. I get down on the shot and I'm thinking "Sight the target ball...sight the cue ball. Breathe and stay still...exhale...stroke." The ball drops and the cue ball, like it had eyes, breaks my ball from the pack at the other end of the table. I make the next two balls and leave the cue ball smack dab in the center of the table where I wanted it. The eight is a foot away from the corner pocket with about a 10° cut. "That was a nice run and a nice leave with the cue ball. It's ours!" The eight hits the nipple, rattles in the pocket and stays up! I've brought dishonor to our team...oh the shame!
