Match 3's to me are a perfect stress reliever so I play them a lot, in addition to tons of series adventure/HOGs. Here's the thing: I am playing Jewel Match: Twilight (the 1st one) and the music is really terrific. It also sounds a LOT like the music created for the Ravenhearst series. I bought the soundtrack for that, before soundtracks were offered as part of a Collector's Edition it was so beautiful.

I think these developers borrowed some of it. If anyone has played both the Ravenhearst series and this particular Match 3 game, am I imagining that?

It's nice to see you posting. smile

I can't answer your question, but maybe someone else will be able to.

We had a thread here a while back where we got to talking about the importance of music in games, and we were listing casual games where we thought the music was a stand-out. Music that I really like can be a big part of why I decide to buy a game.

I can't be helpful, either, sorry !!

But just wanted to drop in and say that some of the really old match 3 games I play tend to use the same bit of music .... "looped".
And I often have to turn it off.
Because even though I enjoy playing the game, the looped music would drive me mad eek

I don't usually even hear the music after awhile. Except once in awhile when it seems to get real loud and then I have to go in the options to turn the volume down.

Well, I get that. But if you played any of the Ravenhearst series, especially the one right after Madame Fate (Return to Ravenhearst, I believe) I think you would find the music was evocative, creepy, and lovely.

I know composers are influenced by previous compositions, and I suspect there is a lot of "cross pollination" among game developers - so when somnething strikes a familiar chord (pun intended) I have to wonder...thanks all for your comments!

Since I missed that previous music thread, in addition to the standout Ravenhearst soundtrack, I thought of another one - a pretty old adventure game called Timelapse. It had some of the most beautiful music included in the game. Geez, I remember playing that game on my original Windows for Workplaces computer. The hard drivecwas measured in megabytes, featuring WIN 3.1.

I wish I still had it since some older games don't even load on my current WIN 10 desktop OR laptop, even when you change to compatibility mode.

Sorry to go off topic, but Mooey you can buy Timelapse as a download here and it runs on Windows 10. Right now you can pick it up for $1.19. smile

ME too - It was always at the top of my favorites list. Enjoy it!!
I just finished it this weekend.

I wish they would make Obsidian availiable now.
I have all these old games on original CDs and boxes all clean, but they mostly won't run on a new computer.

I have been able to use some old ones by running them in Virtual Machine; but there's no audio.
The sound is pretty important in many games.
