I hope somebody can help me. I'm pretty sure Iurii played this game.

I am stuck on a word/picture puzzle. There are some words and some pictures. You type in a word for what the picture represents. I have: The Prussian King's sword is (h)at the __________. The picture is: In (two hills with a valley between and an arrow pointing to the valley )ides. I believe the word would be Invalides but nothing I am typing in is being accepted. It would seem you just type val but that does not work so I have tried many different related things, none of which work.

I hope I've explained this well enough.

Yes, I remember this game and this riddle!

oldbroad, you are right - that's a valley. Try typing 'Invaleides'.

Thank you so much Iurii. That worked. I am now trying to set the plinths on the correct colors by rotating my mouse. I hope my patience and hand hold out so I will be able to get this. It has been about a year and a half since you told me about this game and I bought it back then but am just now playing it.

Thanks Iurii. Do you know what is supposed to happen once I have the plinths correctly placed? I have lined them up twice now and nothing happens and then I have to start over. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong unless I am just a fraction of a hair off and the game is that picky.

Edit: So just when I went back in I was able to get it somehow. Now I'm supposed to mix the correct colors to make the complimentary colors but I don't think I understand what that means. I'm afraid to exit out of the puzzle though.

2nd Edit: Yep. I got out of the puzzle and lost what I had accomplished. frown

3rd Edit: Yay. I figured it out and am moving on for a minute!

Argh. This game is not easy. I am in the Pantheon and took a key ring (I guess that's what it is but it doesn't show in my inventory) off the back of a chair and I don't know where I'm supposed to be going next. I keep getting caught. Giving up for tonight. I can't exit out of the building and I run out of shadows to hide in. Where am I supposed to be going?

Another Edit: I found the way out of that particular room (even though some kine of error or something popped up) but now am getting caught in the next section. I don't think I can do this. I do not like having to repeat the same steps over and over.

Finally made it out of this section. Whew!

I'm sorry I just kept writing because I felt I needed help but then I kept trying and finally got it. I almost erased all that I wrote but I'm pretty certain I'm going to need more help in the game so I just kept all the info there. I wanted to keep it updated so I wouldn't waste Iurii's time helping me with something I managed to get through so I kept alt/tabbing to update.

I think that's a good approach, oldbroad.

So now I am on a track in a carriage trying to catch Fouche. Use arrow keys to move. Use A and Q to use objects picked up along the way (fish and 2nd hand clothes). Why use the objects? What is the purpose of the mini game? What is causing the scoring? I keep losing of course, but I can't figure out what am I supposed to be doing and my forearm physically cannot take using these arrow keys. I will keep trying as I can and will update here if I get through it (also if I can since my internet keeps wanting to go out on me).
Thanks.

Hope I get this in before my internet goes back down. I did figure out I have to go around the track 3 times before Dunoi (or Fouche?) does and I know that some coats in the road cause me to spin out and that fish can also if he throws them ahead of me. I cannot seem to get a fish in front of him or a coat. I've made it around the track 2 times but he is usually right there with me on his 3rd time. I just cannot steer well enough and I get too slowed down. frown I'll keep trying for now and maybe somehow I'll get lucky but...

In the Menu you can choose mini games. I played some of the different track layouts and beat him in one of them. Is there some way to get that track into my game though? My arm is killing me as I apparently don't usually use these particular muscles required for the arrow keys. Once I lose control of my cart, it's over. I can't steer at all.

joy2 hamster I did it!!! Don't ask me how. I'm almost afraid to see what's next!

Yikes. I wish Iurii was here!! I am stuck on another picture puzzle with a Ace of Spades and a Baby Buggy. I don't know what word is needed for either and the puzzle won't close. I cannot exit out of it or the game. I had to "end task" in task manager to exit the game.

I think Iurii is probably our only hope in terms of puzzle elucidation for this game. Otherwise, good luck with the game! wave12

Thanks Marian. I am at a stand still right now as I just don't know what words to type. It's funny that I finally made it through the "manual dexterity" puzzle only to get stuck here. I went through the in-game book and I've googled various things but haven't run across anything that worked. I think there are other mini games/puzzles coming up in the game that will definitely give me more trouble too, providing I get past this. It is a nice game but could really benefit from a "skip" button and a walkthrough.

Hah! More googling got me the word for the buggy. Still looking for the "spade" symbol.

Pike? Where would I ever find that??

Thank you so very, very much Iurii!! urock

Happy New Year to you and please check back here again when you're able to. I'll probably be stuck again soon. wink

Ah, guess I didn't google the right words:

Spades ♤ or ♤ (four-colour suit) is one of the four suits of playing cards in the standard French deck. It is a black heart turned upside down with a stalk at its base and symbolises the medieval weapons, the pike or halberd.

I can't tell you how many words I tried.

Happy New Year to you too!

(Probably I would not have guessed that myself either smile But the secret is that the Russian version of the game included a hint sheet for all the puzzles - because they are left in English somehow, so it would not be very possible to solve them in the Russian game anyway. I also have the official full French walkthrough, but most puzzles are different in the French version, so it is of no much help here.)

The answer to that puzzle made much more sense when I saw where it took me. I am currently in the labyrinth. We'll see how long it takes! lol

I made it to the center part two times but then I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. Once I just stood there and got caught. Once I found my way back out to the entrance thinking I might have picked something up in the center there but, nope. Can you tell me what the objective is? Should I have gone out a different door? Am I supposed to be doing something once I am in that center area?

I the labyrinth, you have to get to the center and click on the chest there!

I clicked on the chest but nothing happened. That was why I just stood there the first time but then got out the second time thinking maybe that was the key. I'll keep trying but it seems I am missing something. duh

Thanks Iurii.

Well, the key from the chest should unlock the door on the bottom left. Have you tried it?

I will go back in and try again. I did not see anything in my inventory but I didn't try that door. I'll post later to let you know.

Thank you again Iurii!

Got through there Iurii even though it didn't show a key in my inventory. I got caught and sent back to the beginning and went and tried the door and it opened. It helped that I got caught because then I didn't have to avoid them anymore. I had a straight shot to the door and just had to watch the holes.

Attempting to defuse bombs now. This may take awhile. yes

The bombs were not bad at all once I figured out that I was getting rid of the other people when I confronted them and not "getting caught" by them.

I am dueling now and had to close out of it for a bit only to find out that then I had to redo the canon fight. This game may stay open all night as I do not want to have to redo that again. I know I've hit this guy enough times already that this duel should be over, yet it goes on and on.

I guess I needed to get him 10 times. I thought it was supposed to be only 5 times.

The game just went straight to the credits after the duel. Is that correct or did I miss something somehow?

OK then. It would have been nice if Oscar had proclaimed victory or something. Thank you Iurii. I could not have finished the game without your help!! In fact, I wouldn't have known about this game if you hadn't brought it to my attention. wave

You are welcome!

If you are interested, there are three more games about Oscar. The first one, 'L'Emerillon: Enquête à la cour d'Aliénor d'Aquitaine', is definitely the best, but it was in French only. The other two were in English as well, 'Enquête à Versailles sous Louis XIV, L’Athanor' ('Versailles Mysteries: Oscar and the Athanor') and 'Enquête à Versailles sous Louis XIV, avec Vauban' ('Versailles Mysteries: The Royal Spy').

I played both Oscar and the Anthanor and The Royal Spy. I think something I posted about them is why you mentioned this other game. You did also mention that first game but I don't know French and didn't see it available anyplace.
