How did UBI get away with vandalizing the Prima Guide, and using it as bait so folks would buy the Limited Edition?

There might just be some kind of *Copyright' issue with this bit of garbage UBI put in the boxes. The only reason I got the Limited Edition was for the Prima Guide.

The Prima Guide people should sue UBI for using their name to foist a travesty like this on the people who have always believed in the quality of Prima's products.

I had canceled my order w/ Amazon when the preorder first was offered, now have reordered it and set the game aside until it's received.

Why should we have to pay twice for the same thing due to UBI's unfair (at the very least) trickery??

At least you can get the limited edition - it's not even available over here in the UK.

And I did try looking at the 'online help' and discovered that that is limited as well - click on 'next hint' and all you get is an option to buy the guide.

It seems that the great god of marketing has taken control once again.

The lithograph included in the Limited Edition is nothing to write home about either.

However, the box is a nice collector's item.

Granny, and anyone else who is unhappy with what was done to the guide, write a letter to Prima and let them know how you feel. If we don't tell them, no one else will.

Looks like the Limited Edition isn't going to be on my shopping list. I only hope this doesn't hurt Prima, they don't deserve the bad publicity.

Why would it hurt Prima? They made a little miniguide for Myst V which is included in the game box of the limited edition. It's 4

This is a trick. I remember several games advertising Prima guide included but it was actually mini guide that was absolutely worthless. Myst III - Exile Collector's edition did include full Prima strategy guide.

I bought the Collectors Edition of Myst V, and I must say, I am more than satisfied with it, the box is made like a leather bound book and looks really good. smile

The book that came with it is really nice, it has pictures in it from all the Myst games, and concept art, it has an A-Z D'ni language guide, and dictionary, it has pictures and a small description of each character, and a sneak preview of Rand Millers new novel Myst: The Book of Marrim. It is the size of a DVD case and has 152 pages, these are coloured like aged parchment, and is a really nice addition to my Myst games collection. happydance

Okay, now I'm confused. Is there a "regular" Myst V, a "Limited Edition" Myst V, and a "Collector's Edition" Myst V? My box looks nothing like a book: it's black colored and included the DVD box with the game DVD and a soundtrack, an instruction booklet, a lithograph and that miniature-sized guide.
That guide is basically worthless to me, since I have to use my reading glasses and a magnifying glass in order to read the print. What a waste of money. I feel like I've been taken.

Well....I didn't buy the Limited Edition for the guide book, I didn't even know about Prima and its products.

I bought the Limited Edition because I have a Mac and if I wanted to play this last chapter to Myst at all, this was the one I had to buy. The guide is just icing, readable or not.

So I'm happy happydance

Mary -- the Collector's Edition is sold in Europe. The Limited Edition is sold in North America. And yes, in addition to those there's the "regular" game without the extras that came with the Limited or the Collector's Edition.

I'm loving Myst V, but am not impressed with the "Limited Edition". I certainly expected more. I've ordered the full-size Prima guide. From Tyke's description of the Collector's Edition, I have only one thing to say...... I Want It! Anyone know of somewhere I can get it?

Thanks beanbag -- it looks nice, doesn't it. Unfortunately, I don't think they ship it overseas. A member tried to have the Collector's Edition shipped to Japan, and the online store (that does ship overseas) said that there are materials in it that can't be shipped.

I've actually been wondering if the size of the strategy guide is the issue. Maybe there's a limit on shipping books overseas? And something as small as the Limited Edition strategy guide isn't considered a book?

(Another wild theory, which will probably soon be proven wrong.)

Gameplay usually ships games to the US, but not in the case of this particular game. The problem seems to be that it weighs more than most games and none of Gameplay's shipping options would cover the cost of shipping it. So if you live in the US and try to order it, you get a message that they don't ship to the US.

Wow, that Collector's edition looks great! Sure puts the "Limited" edition to shame, and the "Limited" was expensive!

Found it! bravo I've ordered it and they have sent me confirmation.

Those looking for the Collector's Edition can find it here: Myst V: Collector\'s Editon It is $55.95 and includes free worldwide shipping. They state shipping will take 7-10 days.

I have never bought from this company before, so I cannot recommend them at this point. However I am willing to take the risk to get a copy of this edition.

I noticed that also Rusty. Funny that what appears to be the better version is cheaper.

woozy

To add to the confusion I can tell you that here in Sweden It's called the Limited version and when I look at Gameplay UK it's called the Collectors Edition, though It looks exactly the same as well as what's included in It.

woozy luck

this is exactly the collectors item I got from Ubi France, although I had ordererd it at ubi.U.K. It is in English.I also got a cube from Myst 5. Don't know what to do with it, but it looks nice.

Namma, is it really true you can't get Myst 5?
That would be very cruel. If I can help you, let me know. In our small country a lot is possible

How very sweet and generous of you Josefien!Thank you so much for your very kind offer. But I did find a company that will ship across the pond and have placed my order with them. And I see that Rusty has also placed an order with them.

Unless someone can tell us of their experience with this company, I guess Rusty and I will be the guinea pigs and find out how reliable they are. It's always nice to find another online store.
