I took my first computer class in 1985. I supported myself as a word processor. My first computer was bought out of Popular Science (in the back ads). I bought it for $500 and it came with a dot metrix printer. It didn't even have a hard drive. I had to load the program each time and then put in a 5 1/4" floppy to copy on it. My first games were Pong and Pac Man at that time. I have probably had 6 computers since then. My husband also put together an old one with WIN 98 so I can play older games. It sits in the spare bedroom. He has his WIN XP computer and I have my own w/ WIN XP.

He doesn't play games except Solitaire. I started playing games when I retired in 2001. I have played over 150 games now and I am still buying more and playing them. I sell them as used on Amazon.com. That way I can recoop some of my money.

I keep lists on my computer of all the games I play and books I read. Otherwise, I couldn't remember them. Ha!

When I am not playing computer games I either read or my husband and I travel all over the world. Retirement is grand. I told my grown kids that I am spending their inheritance. They think it is great.

I am only 36, but I just wanted to pop in and say I love this thread! So nice to see the more mature folks (NEVER older!) enjoying games and staying young at heart.

Okay, this youngster is going to go back to quiet lurking mode now.

:-)

This post has been like a breath of fresh air sharing with each other. It is has been a hard year too for me as I lost my Mom and Grandmother and an Uncle in the past six months. It is just Dad and me and God bless him he will be eighty six this year. I am gratful for the games and Forums and help that I do receive when I get stuck on a puzzle. One thing I found that you can't take life for granted here today and gone tommrow. So I make my days better for me and Dad. Games give me the release of most tension. I am playing Voyage what a totally different kind of game. Having to keep one step from man eating plants. Thankful for this day and the Forum too and new friends.

Hi,
I'm semi retired at 72 (next week) I keep working a couple days a week to pay for traveling, games, and books.
My grandaughter got me inot games in 2001 when she talked me into a Nancy Drew game, now not enough time to play and to much work.
I like to come here and read the threads, keeps one up and at them as they say.

My father introduced me to the Colossal Cave back in the early 80s. I was visiting him for a weekend; the first day we played for 12 hours and I ended up calling work every day to ask for another day off. I'll never forget in one game, after trying to get rid of a dragon in oh so many ways, throwing that stupid bird in a bird cage at him and turns out the bird was a flame-throwing bird and fried the dragon. rotfl After five days, I had to go back to work and we still hadn't finished it. We played games every time I visited him - all the Zorks and whatever we could find.

Didn't really have time while I was working to play on my own, but now - another woman, also retired, and I play together. I do play on my own, but find it's more fun with two. What I'm not good at, she is and v/v.
