Do any of you have the new cable channel, G4?

It's totally devoted to computer and console games.

Do you think you would WATCH a television show that dealt with adventure games?

It's based in Santa Monica.

I live in Los Angeles.

Hmm . . .

No I don't get cable.
After Time Warner raised my rates by $10 a month over the course of 3 years I said the h@#$ with them and never looked back.

I spend too much on games to be spending extra on non-essentials like cable TV.

I have cable but, do not get that channel. Actually, this is the first that I have heard of it.

Hi all,

I'll say the same thing I said at Just Adventure (don't worry, Gameboomers is my first love!)

Here's the web site for the channel, as US cable channel - http://www.g4tv.com/html/home.asp .

On your cable listings, you have to look for G4, specifically. I looked on my channel listings (online) and I have it. I also have something called called Game (The game channel) but I'm not sure what that is, I think it's for game shows.

G4 is one of my digital basic channels. I didn't upgrade to digital cable, so I don't get it. I stayed with "Expanded Basic", mainly because digital cable is rather pricey here, and I subscribe to so much electronic communication stuff already - DSL, 2 phone lines (DSL was bad at first, I needed a backup phone line), regular cable, cell phone (cheap package), a subscription radio music program, might be more, I have to think. I'm in northern California, the San Francisco Bay area. Just because I get it, it doesn't mean the next town gets it, our cable service is really fragmented in this area.

Ray, is the show any good? I might upgrade!

Ray, Austin, Tx recently started having that channel. I forgot to check it out until this weekend. Of course the time I did watch it, it was showing console games (I yelled for my boys to watch, they loved it). A show about adventure games sounds right up my alley. I will need to make an effort to watch more of the channel to see what there is. I guess it was Saturday night that I turned it on and stayed to hear about The Fat Man, and his music...but they didn't talk about 7th Guest...rats.

If you get a show on the G4 channel (even better if you get to be in it, you are, after all, an actor!), let us know. Maybe then I'll subscribe!

I'm like JENNY100. I don't have cable. I don't watch TV enough to make it worth while. I can get public television and that is good enough for me. When they get EVERYTHING on it, telephone, the web, hyperfast downloading, TV channels, and security, then I will consider it.

I haven't watched tv for about 10 years, except for huge news stories, and they have to be huge for me to look at them. The last time was during the Sept. 11th disaster.

It's just so trashy, to me. My daughter moved out in December and I cancelled her cable. No sense paying for what I don't need.

To answer your question, Ray.. YES, I would watch that. G4 is offered in my area in the Digital Cable package, but I currently only have basic cable. I've never been able to justify the expense of getting all those extra channels for maybe one or two that I would actually watch. ((I mean, who needs 50 channels of digital music?)) But with more channels and programming like that, it would get more consideration from me. I do enjoy the game related programming and other things on TechTV already.

I get that channel here in Colorado. It's part of digital cable (which hubby cannot live without). I though it was another game-show channel until I saw this thread. I just checked it out and it was showing an old Nintendo racing game. The kids would love this. I believe I would definitely check out a show about adventure games.

Thanks for the tip, I just moved to LA and have digital cable... I'm watching G4 right now. It kind of reminds me of MTV when that first started; kind of low budget...Pringles Potato Chips seems to be their main sponsor.

I doubt they'll do anything on adventure games. Right now they have an entire show on cheat codes

Let me rephrase the question: If there was a show on G4 that INCLUDED coverage of adventure games, would you be interested?

What would the show be like, really? I loved Syberia, but I don't need to see it on television.
I can learn all I want about upcoming adventures online. The sad truth is, adventures are not as visually dynamic as other genres, so they wouldn't really benefit from TV coverage.

Yup - I'll upgrade to expanded Digital Cable if you get that show on, expecially if you host the show! That would be great.

I admire people who don't watch TV, I really do. I vary in how much TV I watch (sometimes not at all, sometimes a lot). I'd like to say that I only watch "quality programs", but that's not true, sometimes I watch junk. I also bet that everyone in the Los Angeles area watches at least some television - it's one of the biggest business sectors in the area, kind of like what the steel industry was in parts of Pennsylvania. I think watching TV would be a different experience if you knew people in the business, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

Good luck, ray.

Ray, I'd watch it, if I could get from my cable company. I'd love to see a show that reviewed and previewed adventure games!

We have a show here in the UK called Cybernet. I believe this is shown on a cable/satellite channel during the day but the reruns are shown on terrestial TV (where I pick it up from) at around 3am in the morning, I always tape it!

I was intrigued by the title and was delighted when my feelings were confirmed, the show is about console and PC games. It occasionally shows edutaiment and adventures games and it was where I discovered Ceremony of Innocence.

I really enjoy the show as it is interesting to keep up with developments in all genres. The show also sometimes delivers technical stories and gives details of interesting internet sites. When yet another football game is reviewed I simply hit fastforward and move on to the next item!
