Well my views haven't changed on this game, after sitting and letting it settle out. This is a game like Curse of Monkey Island. Oddball characters - a catchy title tune that is reprised in different varaitions through out the game. It is obvious that the folks at Pendulo are film buffs. Isee hints of Pricilla of the Desert, Risky Business and other greats in this game.
Now it is a classic adventure in that there's inventory to be gleaned. You will run into an occasional "scour the room cause I know I missed something" moment. It isn't a perfect game, but then again I am not sure that perfect exists. If you don't like 2D looking (they actually are rendered in a very innovative way) cartoon based graphics, with wild plot turns. Probably best to wait on this one. If you want to escape - I think of this as a road trip kind of game, meet some truly memorable characters, loved or at least liked CMI - then runaway with this game.
Time spent hmmmm probably 15 to 20 hours. But I had played the demo - which is 1/6 of the game. Still I would rather play a game that was as long as it needed to be and have a great time than go through a gratuitous game extender like a maze or impossible puzzle stuck in the middle.
It's in my twisty list next year, assuming it doesn;t get bumped off. I think 2003-04 is going to rival 1996 for the number of great games that release.
