MICROÏDS PUSHES THE RELEASE OF SYBERIA II TO SPRING 2004

(Montreal, Canada - Wednesday September 3rd, 2003) - Today Microïds, officially announces that the release of Syberia II will be delayed to Spring 2004.

Microids has opted to direct its strategy to a multi platform release, a goal that would otherwise be unattainable for an October 2003 launch date.

"Even though the PC version of Syberia II respects all of its development timelines, it looks more than evident that the PS2 and Xbox ports would not be available for a simultaneous launch" as indicated by Emmanuel Olivier, Microïds new CEO and owner. "This strategic decision respects our business plan and will help Microïds launch its biggest title in history on all major platforms simultaneously. This will also solidify its place in the industry as one of the leaders in adventure games genre"

Pushing the launch date will give the development team two extra months to polish the development and enhance certain elements of the game play, animation and cinematic.

"It's a creators dream to have his creation period lengthened.," says an enthusiastic Benoît Sokal, author and art director of Syberia II. "We are now in a situation where we can work on the small details that will make Syberia II such a unique gaming experience
Makes sense to me. The simultanious release on consoles and PC is good business sense. I know that the extra time will not be wasted and look forward to Syberia 2.

I don't see why they think it's a good idea to delay the PC version just so they can the console version at the same time. For the most part, PC users are a different audience. Microids will miss the Christmas season by delaying the PC version.

Not only that Jenny. Companies are always quick to release the console version first and we pc gamers have to wait sometimes a whole year for the pc version to come out. Syberia was a pc game originally therefore I believe we should have the privilege of having it first. Console gamers have that privilege with games originally written for the console.

Laura, please sign me up for S.A.D. Syberia II was in my top two "wish list" along with Uru.

With proper therapy, I can lead a somewhat full life after this news.

Glynn, I did not know that the console versions had more gameplay. Now that really tees me off! But in most cases the pc version is cheaper. I will not get a console gaming systen because I always felt it would be a step down.
And Glynn, believe me I will never thank anyone else again! lol

Hi Jenny: "007 Nightfire" and "Splinter Cell" have more levels on the console than PC games, not sure if they do that with Adventure games also...maybe that's why the console games are higher...Glynn

Without reading, I'll say ........I hated SYBERIA ..... and Microids in general. Remember? I have still to play Post Mortem? Microids are trying to do something "new" ... sure, the graphics aren't even World blasting a bunch of kids thinking "millionaire" in 2 years.
