Hello Boomers, I have a question? Has anyone played this game? Did you like it? I read the reviews, but I want an opinion from you guys, since I value the opinions of boomers more than the companies of the game. Thanks Liz

Good Morning Liz. Pandora's box is a great puzzle game with sorta a storyline. It is done sorta like "Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego?". You get to solve a series of puzzles in a set in order to gain a piece to another puzzle that has been broken up and 'hidden' in various places around the world. There are 9 or 10 levels and as you solve the needed set of puzzles and gain another piece you get to solve - yep, you guessed it, another puzzle - I have this, have played it and am sorta stuck at the last level (RAVEN) with yet another circular slider (these can be hard sometimes, depends on how 'dumb' I am being on any given day). I like PB because I can put it down or pick it up any time and not have missed anything. You can also play ALL of the puzzles or choose your favorite kind and solve them without the levels or storyline (such as it is). I guess I believe it is worth between $10 and 20 dollars but not any more than that. Even better if you can get it used, cheaper. The different type of puzzles are novel and some of them are fun. Does this help at all? Love, Betty Lou

I have to agree with the others. This is more of a puzzle game than a story........lots of fun in store for you.

I loved it, even though I never could do the "rotascope" puzzles....I kept the tokens to bypass them.
I often play a few of the puzzles again as a sort of relaxation. The music is nice and the scenes from various countries too.

I absolutely LOVED the part of this game that I could play. I was only able to play through a few of the puzzles because my computer didn't like the game for some reason and it kept freezing. But....if I COULD play it all the way through, I know I would! Not being able to do so was one of my great gaming disappointments of last year. <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

I really loved the game, have played it a few times now. Started playing it under Windows 98, completed it and now play it under Windows XP. As regards the puzzles, there are so many that you never get bored. My favourites were the 'rotoscope' puzzles. Play it if you get the chance!!!!!

I love this game and every so often take it out and play it again. Its kind of like Brain Games which I also enjoyed its just that little game you can pop in the cd rom when you just have a few minutes and need a puzzle fix. Get it, you won't be sorry. Karen

An absolutely beautiful game. Fantastic design, lots and lots of taste and refinement. A really impressive effort from Microsoft Games, I thought. But then, it IS the guy who designed Tetris, so he does know a thing or two!

Oh Pandora's Box is great! Lovely music, pretty pics & bits of art. We've replayed it more times than I can count (Its one of my Mom's favourites, in fact) I loved the rotascopes. It was those floating blank spaces that I found difficult. You know, click it in the right spot or it zooms all over? Tokens.what a great idea. I wish more games had that option Please tell me how you got Pandora's box to play on WinXP! I got an error when I tried to install it on the new pooter "Windows has a known compatability issue with this product" etc any suggestions? Salar

I'm getting very interested in Pandora's Box. Some of you above mentioned how great the re-play value is. How so? Do possible puzzles change with each re-play in some way?

Thanks for the suggestions, Witchen SirDave, the puzzles dont change but neither do you memorize them quickly. That lovely music keeps the tone relaxed as you piece together ancient Egyptian sculptures & Japanese scrolls. You can replay it occassionally and expect it to remain interesting in a low-key way Sounds to me like Singer has worked out whats up. I emailed Microsoft directly about it over a year ago. Good thing I didnt hold my breath for the answer. I still have the 98se machine to play Pandora. I just thought it would be great to achieve forward compatability. I wish they had made a sequel. There are LOTS of museums after all.

Its a fantastic game!! Once you have finished getting the tricksters back in the box, you can then go and play all the puzzles you missed!! Some really fiendish find & fill ones at the end!! Oh, I got the later version with over 400 puzzles... there are also more on their website here... Pandoras Box Hugs Tig

I have a setup for this game. Pandora's Box Setup Walkthrough This is not for the more recent version that Singer was speaking of or the demo version. It is for the 1998 version. Inferno

I replay the puzzles in Pandora's Box all the time. Well except for the find and fills - I really don't like those and find myself turning my head constantly as the puzzle face spins around. So the newer version has 400 puzzles! Hmmm have to check it out - I didn't realize it had more puzzles. Laura

I am so glad I posted this game to see how many love this game. And I have the new version, and it is still in the box, waiting to play it later, but reading how many people enjoy this game, I am going to load it right now.
A lot of people are having problems playing it on XP, I don't have XP, I just hope it works on WINME. Has anyone played it on WINME?

Okay, guys......I ran into a little trouble with the wisconsinpc.com site. The order went through okay, maybe. I got a message from their ShopRite store host, later, that their "shopping basket" was not properly securing credit card numbers. I tried to cancel my order immediately, but no dice, all mail is getting returned. I don't know if the order took or not, or if my credit card number went into quarantine or what, but I'm sure going to be watching this one closely if the game shows up and again when I get my CC bill. I would suggest that if anyone is thinking about ordering from them, perhaps that's not a good idea!!! Love, Witchen =O)

Witchen, I'm sorry, I had no idea the site was unreliable, or I wouldn't have mentioned it. I tried to order it myself, but stopped when it turned out they didn't take international orders.

Hi Liz.... The newer version is called "Pandora's Box: Game of the Year Edition" and it has 400 puzzles. The game with 350 puzzles is the first game. It's still available at CD Acess. Here\'s the link for the 2nd version. The second version is very hard to find, even Microsoft doesn't have it. ~Dee

Ok, I had it backwards. I was thinking if the new version was made after the old version, Why is not available anymore or hard to find?
You know that the older the game is, it becomes rare and difficult to find, isn't that just weird? Humm.
Liz

Liz, both original versions by Microsoft are rare now. For whatever reason, the varied re-releases by Xplosiv and now Ubi Soft only offer the 350 puzzle version. But let's remember, folks - 350 puzzles in a great game at a good price is still a pretty good deal. Jack

Good point, Jack and I'll consider myself lucky to have the 350 puzzle version. It is a terrific game and I'm enjoying it immensely! And, Betje, no worries! Not your fault! I am working on getting my order backed completely out this morning. --------------------LATER-------------- Just to follow up, I got in contact with the Wisconsinpc sales dept. this a.m. and was reassured that the site is, indeed, fully secured. (not sure I accept that, considering) But, in any case they are also out of stock on Pandora's Box 400 and there's no chance of getting more. I cancelled the order. Love, Witchen =O)
