Hey folks, after quite the absence, I'm back.......
We're all very happy about the PC Gamer review! They gave us an "excellent" rating...82%!
I'd like you all to know that we've released a patch for Atomic Mutant!
It's available at The Atomic Mutant Website on the last page of the book. It's only about 3MB.
It contains a few bug fixes and compatability fixes for different video cards. (Jenny100, you're all set....!)
There's some differences in the way the puny humans behave, slight AI enhancement.
More importantly, there's a treat for people that have purchased the game. One of the most heard complaints was that the monster blocks the view. Well, we've included some different camera views to address that, and have some fun, too. Included are
-New "farther away and up" view that gives a new perspective and gets the monster out of the way...as requested... -FIRST PERSON view. Look down upon your prey and SMASH! -PUNY HUMAN THROW CAM. At first, this view looks an awful lot like the default view. But, go pick up a soldier or civilian and give 'em a throw...see what happens....tee hee.
Thanks for all your support on this forum, and THANK YOU to everyone who has purchased the game.....!!

Thanks for the update info. Have to go get the patch. I thought the view angle on the monster was a problem at times, myself. I am definitely intrigued by the what the "puny human throw cam" improvement is like. Laura

atomicmutant, That silly line, which was originally "They took away his stove and he became...deranged," is actually a variation on wonderfully awful movie tagline copy. I was heading south on I-94 some years ago and heard one of those overheated "They took away his (something or other) and he became (the title of the movie)." It was at that moment that the idea of doing ridiculous movie taglines presented itself. Imagine, if you will, "They gave him back his beaker and he became...revialed" or "They took away his lamp and he became...delighted." You get the idea. By the way, there is film entitled Deranged, directed by the same guy who gave us the Porky's series and A Christmas Story: Bob Clark.

The demo gives you a great appreciation for this gem of a game. You'll end up sucked into buying this one - I bet. It's arcade with an easy to play interface and loaded with charm. If anyone searches back in their memories - they will recall the desire to be real big and stomp around the place. OK - we have switched pre-fixes ehh. They took away her hard drive and she felt defiled. Then they plugged her into the Matrix and she became re-animated. Laura

Hmm. Before I can find the first puzzle or engage in interaction or dialogue with any other characters a giant monster walks around, falls over and it says The End.
Is the story complex and engaging enough on an intellectual and emotional level once you find other locations and people?

Is the story complex and engaging enough on an intellectual and emotional level once you find other locations and people? Well this game engages and stimulates by reducing all negotiations, challenges and conundrums to their most basic form - the desire to communicate effectively and completely. Atomic Mutant reduces all jargon, cant and chat to a moment of pure emotional clarity. I squish you - therefore I am. Laura

I thought you were joking Randwill. oops To me Atomic Mutant is a great time killer game that I keep on my hard drive - like Bejeweled - but so much funnier and in it's own deliciously warped way engaging. It's a tribute to all the Sci Fi B Movies from the 50's and 60's. It's not a shooter - more like a first person very simple arcade type game with lots of unusual charm. It is one of the strangest and most fun diversionary games I have played. You are the giant mutant, you can watch through your eyes or through cinema scope with all the people in the movie theatre or drive in audience. It is pure silly fun. Didn't intend to make light of your question - I assumed you knew about the game. Laura

Oh, I WAS being silly. And I love the old B movie graphics surrounding the game. It's just not what I usually enjoy playing, nor what I usualy see discussed here.
Well, I'm off to contemplate quite settings with strange mechanical devices that need to be figured out and manipulated. No rush. Take aaaalll the time you need...

I love pure adventure games, games that let you stroll and explore. Things to see, doors to peek behind - all those wonderful times. But to me it's a lot like my reading habits. I have all the classics and greats. Most days I want to revel in time spent with Dickens, F.Scott or Hesse. But some days I choose to sit on the porch with a stack of comics, a hostess cupcake and an ice cold Dr. Pepper. All are pure pleasure. Laura

I think this "thread" will become the Reptilicus of the board. If it lapses, someone will pick it up again and it will be re-sewn (sown)(sewed)(sowed). WHATEVER! I'm going to get me to a punnery and then return with a new habit.

Sacre bleu, ze gauntlet has been thrrrown (throne?). (Pardon my French)
If you are "re-booting" this thread then the bad puns will cause you to C"PU" and make your BIOSphere cringe. Your aggravation will make your WINDOWS steam and your OS crash. Your hard drive will become floppy and your heat...sink!
(Uh oh, here comes Witchen or MaG or Gaterlaw with the blue pencil to GIVE me the boot. I'll be redacted).
