I love FMV games (which is why I'm bumming I can't get Ripper to work). I'm wondering if I've missed any. I've played X-Files, GK 2, Phantas. 1&2 and I'm sure other ones. Is Master Lu FMV? If so anyone know where I can get it? Any new ones coming out? chris

I think Panic in the Park is FMV & Daedalus Encounter as well. smile

Not sure because I haven't played it but I think I remember FMV screenshots on the box (which is packed away for moving)of the game, Chaos: A Fantasy Adventure Game (not to be confused with C.H.A.O.S.).

Master Lu is not FMV.
If you consider Frankenstein to be FMV, then you also have to consider the Myst games, 7th Guest, 11th Hour, and Zork Nemesis to be FMV.

OK everyone I've played all mentioned except those mentioned by pythias (excluding Frankenstein).
Becky is ST Borg adventure? It sounds more action.

Few people have played Blue Heat. Except when it was floating. Call me stupid, but I don't know what Fmv means.

ST Borg is adventure, but is the shortest game I have ever played.

All the others that have been mentioned plus ...
  • Journeyman 3
  • Dark Side of The Moon
  • The Crystal Skull
  • Flash Traffic
  • Aztek or Sacred Amulet
  • Fork In The Tale
  • Fox Hunt
  • Silent Steel
  • Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective Series
  • Dracula Unleashed
  • Point of View
  • Tender Loving Care
  • Both Voyeur 1 and 2
  • The Vampire Diaries (FMV drop-ins on pre-rendered graphics)
  • The new Sydney Mystery
  • Psychic Detective
  • Urban Runner
  • Lost In Time (I think)

and some I have forgotten right now.

Laura

Temujin is another FMV game no one's mentioned yet.

Laura, I don't remember Aztek/Sacred Amulet having any FMV. Are you thinking of another game?

Also, I think it should be mentioned that Point of View, Tender Loving Care, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, and Dracula Unleashed have a different style of gameplay than most adventure games. And you need software to play DVD movies to be installed on your computer in order to play Consulting Detective and Dracula Unleashed. I'm not sure if this is true for Point of View and TLC.

Jenny100,

You are right about Aztek - I was thinking of Crstal Skull earlier and then got Aztek jumbled in there.

I also checked my game list and remembered Double Switch and Night Tracks are FMV (though terrible games IMHO) I can't believe I omitted Spycraft ( a personal fave game) I also would think Return To Zork would qualify. It is like the Tex Murphy games. FMV characters dropped into graphic environments. Hell Cab is another game too. It's weird and actiony - but it was a household favorite for quite a while. laugh

As for Dracula Unleashed and Consulting Detective series, the re-mastered DVD versions require the software but not the originals. I have them for the MAC and PC now. The same applies to Silent Steel. There's an older original version and a re-mastered DVD version. All three of these games came out in the early to mid 90's pre-dating DVD technology I would think. POV and TLC either didn't require one or also came with a program on the CDRom. It's been a while since I played them both though - so I can't recall right off hand. I know I just installed and played both of them on my current system. Now I do have a DVD/CDRom so it may already have a compatable program on my PC - so I didn't notice.

Laura

I thought any game that used "real" actors who were filmed, would qualify as an FMV game, whether they were "dropped" over CG backgrounds or not - it's just cheaper and easier (especially if you're doing a futuristic game) to use a blue-screen and put actors over pre-rendered backgrounds.

"Mummy, Tomb of the Pharaoh" (not to be confused with the "Mystery of the Mummy" or "Egypt,Tomb of the Pharaoh") has some FMV scenes.

Most FMV/Interactive Movie games have real actors on such backgrounds. I'd say yes; real actors and anything else doesn't matter. That is my take on it; it's an opinion call.

Sorry to be a pain, but I don't understand what FMV really means! I see the "full motion video", but what does that mean? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

chrisdist -- yes, Star Trek Borg is definitely adventure. You can buy it on Amazon for $9.99. Yes, it is a bit short but it is a lot of fun.

Frantic,

I don't think Dust was FMV. The characters did look realistic, but I belive they are animated.
