I've been waiting a long time. I think my DVD drive is worn out from waiting.

I have found a few out there. I managed to locate a DVD Riven - what a difference. Plus Atlantis 3/Beyond Atlantis 2 came out in DVD. Then Overseer, Zork GI (It came for free with my DVD drive) Silent Steel - a FMV Tom Clancy type interactive movie is in DVD, Point of View is in DVD, Dark Side of the Moon. Schizm, Lightbringer/Cydonia and then China (the old Cryo game).
A lot of these you just have to keep an eye out for them at CDAccess and other places.

It's very difficult to find games on DVD. Cryo used to publish some of their games on DVD, but they're kaput. In the past I ordered a couple of the Cryo DVD games from SoftwareFirst, but I wouldn't order from them now. I'd wait and see if they sort themselves out. I did find Dark Side of the Moon DVD at bigdaddysoftware. They also sell the CD version. http://www.bigdaddysoftware.com/darsidofmoon1.html I think you can still order both Schizm DVD and Lightbringer DVD from Dreamcatcher. CDAccess sells Tex Murphy Overseer, which includes both CD and DVD versions. But the DVD version of Overseer is very fussy and won't run on many computers because it requires a hardware decoder card or a video card that has semi-hardware decoding (like some ATI cards) http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/overseerpr.htm Your best bet is probably finding used DVD games at GameTZ. Or ebay.

of course, that's why DVD games haven't caught on... because you can rarely buy them at retail. Riven DVD is the only one of these I ever remember seeing in a store. -emily

I can buy a few DVD-games in my local store. All the cryo-games: Atlantis 1 & 2, Pompei, EGYPT, Ring, Odyssee, China, Time Machine, Faust, Verailles, Devil Inside are multi-lingual (german, english, francais, nederlands, espanol, italiano, svenska). The manual could be found directly on the DVD in PDF-file format for the Acrobet Reader. I myself have Pompei for tade. CU, Sylvia

PlayingGamesInteractive sells China, Odyssey and Egypt Tomb of the Pharaoh in DVD format. I have DSOTM and Lightbringer on DVD, and it sure does make a nice difference to not have to keep swapping disks.

I do not think all of these are correct. There was once a Myst: Exile DVD planned, but it was cancelled - at least in the English version. Maybe the person was thinking of Riven DVD, which isn't listed. Schizm DVD, Lightbringer DVD, and Atlantis 1, 2, and 3 also weren't listed. I would not recommend the Faust DVD to anyone. They mixed up the sound and the video files for the end sequence so you see Ending #1 while hearing Ending #2 and see Ending #2 while hearing Ending #1. It would be very confusing for anyone playing the game for the first time. And it's very annoying for anyone who's played the game before. I emailed Cryo about it and they asked me to return the DVD and they sent me a new one. It was the same way. I emailed them again and they said they were all like that. They wouldn't even tell me which audio and video tracks were mixed up so I couldn't copy the game to the hard drive and rename the files so they'd play correctly.

Jenny 100, Yikes! I almost picked up the Faust DVD too. Thanks for the tip. Sounds like one to stay away from. For such a tightly plotted game, what a let down... I left out several games as they had already been mentioned in preceding posts. The original list included them as well. I've never researched this list but thought it was a good starting point for those who might want to pursue it further. I'm still trying to get Overseer to run.

Now I know what to expect if I ever get thru my Faust DVD <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" /> I picked it up early this year direct from Arxel Tribe in France. I 'think' it was about $30.00 US inc. shipping.
