That sounds like great tactics using the bow. I generally got too caught up in the excitement, so if I didn't use magic, I used the Singer sword through most of the game (until I got the divine one, which has frost, and very effective in the wastelands). I found the same thing with the dragon armor - it broke the minute I got in a fight, and was too expensive to keep fixing it. I can't remember what else I used, but in the wastelands there are quite a few imps that drop mithril (? I think) armor that is really good. I didn't carry extras in my inventory, because fortunately the weapons didn't seem to break. There is so much loot in the game that I got to the point where I didn't even bother to pick stuff up that wasn't really high quality and I could get a lot of money for it. I carried a ton of potions or empty bottles though, and the thankfully weightless bed.

Since I mostly rely on magic, I don't use conventional weapons very much so I've dumped most of them - I think I'm carrying around some kind of sword just to slash the spiders, bees and mosquitos laugh I have lightweight armor, a helmet and a shield - nothing fancy but it protects me. I am wearing the sapphire ring I got from one of the plague victims and another ring that I can't remember what it does. I also think I have a dragon necklace and vampire boots. I do have the Singer sword that I haven't used yet, must just be keeping it for sentimental value

I'm getting so I don't bother to pick up anymore shields etc. I do get the gold and the potions however. I also unloaded the scorpion traps and trail bombs.

Like nickie I have a ton of potions and some empty flasks - doubt I'll ever use most of them but I have 'em just in case.

Row how you doing? I'm at Level 30 and am currently fighting nasty critters under the Warrior's Guild in the Dark Forest. Man the baddies in this neck of the woods are tough eek I feel like I'm back to level 10 fighting those hordes of orcs.

Have you found any parts to the treasure map? I have three so far - just need to find one more. I've also found two of the three Holy weapons. I have a dagger and an amulet.

Just thought I'd take a break from zapping Insane Skeletons and Dark Zombies rolleyes

Oh and guess who started DD today? Jenny laugh laugh Yep, I lured her over to the dark side wink She's playing as a survivor and is at level two right now whistle

You might not want to sell all those traps. If you give yourself the trap skill, you can use scorpions to take out TONS of enemies and if you are in a tight situation, they can be pretty handy. A word of caution though - at level 4 and 5 those scorpions are powerful enough that you can file your nails while the enemy dies in droves. In my first game, the last battle was non-existent because I let three level 5 scorpions loose. End of game. The other trap types aren't very useful.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Syd way to go. laugh Jenny so glad you're playing. happydance It really is a fun game!
Okay Singer is the one left. How he can not play a game that has a sword named after him is beyond me. I think he's playing it in secret and not telling anyone.. bravo that's a rough part of town don't you think??
How is Rowan doing?

Hi Syd, I just made level 30 also. I have 2 pieces of the map. I have no idea where the Singer sword is. Is that one that needs to be identified? I think I'm fairly lousy at solving quests. At one time in the game I had a reputation of 15 and I have sunk to -1. blush

Darn it, Hagatha, I just unloaded all my scorpion traps somewhere. whistle laugh whistle But by that level, I'm sure you are already as hooked as Syd and I.

Here are a few other puzzles that I have been wondering about: In the sewers of Verdisti is a room that I cannot get into. There are no obvious doors to get in but it seems there is something in there. It is in the SW part of the sewer map. There are also a couple of other exits from the sewers but they just have locked doors which I don't know how to open. Also, there sre so many locked doors and locked chests in this game. Is it essential to be able to get into everything? Do I need higher lockpicking skills?

I am thoroughly enjoying myself, but I really would like to improve my reputation and solve more quests. I've haven't solved any of the main story line quests in Verdisti, just some little subquests.

Those locked doors in the sewers do lead to places, but most of them you will get to later in the story.

The place you are referring to in the SW part of the sewer map is probably the room that has a gate arrangement on one side of it, and some chests in it. I've heard that you can throw one of your pyramids into the room (making sure that you have both in your inventory) and transport in, but I have always been able to get at the stuff in that room just by using telekenisis on the chests so I've never actually entered it.

I would recommend getting those lockpick skills up as high as you can. You don't have to get into every chest, but it's a lot of fun, and you can get rich that way. At various points in the game lockpick is useful.

Lots of scorpion traps available in the game from merchants, and cheap. You only need a few at a time.

If your reputation dropped that much you must have killed someone innocent by mistake! Mind you, as far as I know there's only one quest that's reputation-related.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

When you get kicked out of the castle, your reputation drops by a bunch, so that part is just story related.

Row you may pull ahead of me yet lol I think I've solved all but one of the Verdistis quests - getting the brooch from the Dwarven Halls - that is unless I missed talking to someone else.

I haven't found the wizard that changes people into animals yet - have been spending most of my time in the bowels of the Dark Forest getting whacked by the critters down there (I'm doing the first quest in the Warrior's Guild). I've teleported in and out so many times it's pathetic. I have Elemental Hail that works very well when a bunch of the skeleton and zombies decide to attack at once but it sure depletes my magic fast. Guess I should start picking up some more scorpion traps and getting the skill up to snuff - right now I have a level 1 Death Trap.

I also have done nothing at Stormfist Castle. After the Dark Forest I think I'll head there.

I have no idea where I found the Singer sword. Didn't really notice it until I started unloading my inventory for storage. I can't use it because my agility isn't high enough - I've been using the points to build up strength and intelligence and sort of neglected constitution and agility. I also don't remember having to have it identified -

Well, better get back to the game - so much to do - so little time laugh

rowan and ingie,

the singing sword is found in the sewers below the merchant town(forgot the name as it has been so long), it is part of the black market quest involving marcus and trevor.

as with all special items you may want to save first if you want something particular on the sword such as 5 enchant slots or freeze on it.

I found the nasty changing human to animal wizard and splatted his guts all over the basement wink Now I'm off to the Dwarven Halls to find what I need to release the poor critters.

I also got the second quest for the Warrior's Guild, plus a couple of other quests.

Yep Ingie, I've been through the Elven Village. Haven't made it all the way to the end of the road however - got sidetracked lol

Syd, I splattered that evil magician also, but I have not figured out how to release the poor victims from their animal bodies.

I've been through the elven village and fell in love. blush Kinda impossible when you think I haven't had a bath after hundreds of killings and miles of trecking through sewers and dungeons.

I've been through the Imp's castle and have not found the scroll for the teleporter. There is a locked door at the end of the dungeon and I don't know how to get in there.

I have found the first item for the Warrior's guild, but have not found the 2nd.

I'm taking a break from the Dark Forest and am back to Ars Magicana. I'm down in the sewer looking for Singer. When I first entered the sewer, I found a character called Pedro, but he was frozen on the spot. Can anyone explain this?

Also, I am carrying a lot of poison in my potion part of the inventory. How is this used. If I drink it, will I kill myself, or will my stench help kill the baddies? I just haven't tried anything with the green stuff and want to know how it is used.

Syd, I won't be gaining on you because I will have a busy few days ahead of me in the real life adventure, but I will be checking in to see how you are doing, and maybe kill a lizard or two.

To Ingie, Nickie, Hagatha, and others, thanks for all the helping hands you are giving me in this game.

Row! not real life - arrgggghhhh laugh When you get back from real life - talk to the cow in Boratus' basement - he gives you a clue where to look for the clue on where to find the cure for the animals.

I still have the Imps to look forward to and I never fell in love [sigh] Guess the elves didn't think I was their type wink

And I predict he'll listen just about as well as your kids do, Syd! lol

I was having a good time cleaning up in the catacombs, but I guess I'm going to have to stop for a while. I just got the loan of Thorgal's Quest, so I want to get it done before I go on with DD. Anyway, I'm so far behind everyone else, that I figure if I just stall around you will all kill the baddies and I can just waltz to the end. HA!!!

Is there a way to keep the survivor from moving forward when she shoots a bow? In Diablo you hold down the shift key, but that doesn't have any effect in DD. It negates the advantage of a long-distance character if the idiot insists on running up to where the fight is instead of pouring in arrows from a ways back...

You're sure welcome Rowan, and I'm so happy you're enjoying the game. You probably passed right by where that scroll is - in a place you might not think to look.

Oh Syd and Rowan you guys are doing this so easily I can't hardly stand still. Ah the adventure of it all laugh
Row, you did catch the part about the cow?
And Syd, if you're not in love you did not speak to everyone in the elf village-then again, maybe it's not meant to be since Rowan showed up. lol
Jenny, wave I didn't use bow and arrow at all, afraid I'd mess up, but I think Nickie and Jean did.
This game is so much fun, it's great reading your adventures!!
Thank you for sharing

No Ingie, I was strictly a magic user, that is, except for when I got particularly bloodthirsty and used the sword. So I don't know what you need to do to avoid melee combat, except clicking to get a different vantage point- hopefully someone will come along that used bow and arrow. I think the default setting is to hit the closest enemy, so that could be why her character goes into closer contact. In the manual it may say how to change that.

Happy Birthday, Jenny. I just saw your birthday cake with your avatar. Sorry you are delaying Divine Divinity. It really doesn't matter how many levels you are behind or ahead because the game is so vast, that we do things in different orders anyway. Even Syd and I have explored and conquered different regions at different times. I think it is so wonderful that the game is so BIIIIG! thumbsup Except I got that elf hunk first, Syd!! wink Syd, you will have to be happy with Singer, I still haven't found him. frown
