Good question, Acornia! lol Actually, I've heard several comments of people that have read the posts and decided to buy the game because it sounded like fun! So now the "Used to be adventure only" game crew need to pick out another to play over here! eek

OK, just checking to see if I have my face back. I figured one more post wasn't going to hurt this thread. ....Later, yay, it's back! And Syd, how did you come by that illustrious new title? lol

Well Row I done hit the gong and am now in the Wastelands. And guess who is the first "person" I meet? Why my husband of course (well, actually, it's a big, dumb, strong orc who just happens to have the same name as my husband) laugh

Sure hope I'm strong enough to get through this - I went from a level 38 mage to a level 43 once I got there.

Also - how on earth do you charm a weapon? Do you use the Charm weapon skill? And how do you get it to work if that's what you use? Also I've hear you guys talk about freeze on a weapon - how do you do that and what skill is it?

I know pretty lame questions being so far in the game but what can I say? lol

Syd, I've been trying so hard to catch up to you but I just can't. Have had some chores to do at home which keep interfering with my progress.

Anyway, I still have problems with some of the older quests:

1) Who murdered the old duke? Com. Ralph won't talk to me. As a matter of fact, he throws me in jail if I disturb him! I've gotten the title deed, and killed off some assassin henchmen, but my quest still says to talk to some assassin. I had found him in the merchants' archives but he left when he called those assassin friends of his. So I am still at a loss.

2) The Tingalf problem is still not resolved. I've found the cache with Pedro and the incriminating letter, told Lt. Robins and the Marcus the merchant. My quest says I should talk to Trevor but he is no longer in his house. So where is he now?

2) I've cured 3 plague victims but I should tell Seth about it. He was the knight in Aleroth who sent me on this mission, but where is he now so I can tell him? I think that would trigger the closure to that quest.

3) The poisoned field quest is still shows unfinished. Found the cave with the poison, found the orc responsible. And Dr. Elrath is behind it all and Hugh sent me to check out the doctor, but he has disappeared also. Where is he?

Something else that I still want to figure out is about 2 exits to other areas in the sewers of Verdisti. One exit is in the NE region and it leads to a locked door. The other is E by SE and it also leads to a locked door. I have lockpick 4 and I still can't open these doors. I don't want to forget about them.

Thanks again in advance for your help.

Syd, are you divine now? Do I have to bow and genuflect to you all the time now? laugh Funny that you met your husband in the wastelands. Didn't you meet me as a pig farmer earlier? evil

Freeze is a magic skill you can choose and it works by right clicking. You can only "charm" a weapon if it has charm qualities assigned to it. If it does, open your suit of armour window, left click on any charmable item, and another screen with holes pops up. Open your inventory and drag one of those round charms that you have been picking up into the slots.

To anyone: You know those terrace areas in the Dark Forest - are they accessible? I have been able to get into some of the little ones, but some of the larger terraced areas haven't been highlighted yet because I don't find any steps up. just wondering if this is normal or if I have been blind again.

No Row, there are areas that just aren't accessible.
Some of the problems with completing the quests may be that you did them in a different order than the game wanted you to, so you can't locate the people. For instance, you already did the plague quest, and that would have come after the poison in the cave one because the doc would be in jail.
Did you go in the Commander's room? If you did, he won't talk to you again, and so the quest probably can't be completed.
I think the locked doors in the sewers go to the castle.
Syd : do you have the divine sword? I think it has freeze on it, and works ever so much better than the freeze spell. It isn't a skill, it's just either on the weapon or not. And sure, you're strong enough now - that's why the game bumps you up in level. The Wastelands took me forever until I went back to a saved game and used the points to get the deadly disc skill - after that I went whipping through with no problem. Good luck!

No I don't have the divine sword - where do you get it? Knowing me I probably dumped it somewhere or didn't pick it up. I have the Singer sword and the Nobleman's sword (the one I got as the Holy weapon).

I did up my deadly disk skill and have a few more skill points to use on charm if I can figure out how to do it.

Nope Row I'm not Divine yet so you can remain on your feet in my presence laugh I'm just a plain old mage that's having a devil of a time killing these nasty imps.

Syd,
You are Divine Now that was the ceremony thing and why you are in the Wastelands
Use the disc spell for a lot of little cowboy type things, you'll see in just a bit what we mean.
The charm a weapon-it is a skill maybe called enchant. It can only be done on those weapons or armor that have charm beside it .
You click on your armor inventory-what you are actually wearing. There will be round slots in the armor or weapon itself. 1-5 slots, depending on how many charms that item can hold.
If you have bought the enchant or charm spell(can't remember how it is called-think it's in the warrior selection)the slot(s) will be open, if not a big X will be over the slot.
If open place a charm into the slot-plop, it is now a charmed item.
Hope that helped.
CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING DIVINE

I was just coming back to report that yes, my stats say I am the Divine One now (I don't feel any different) - sorry Row - looks like you will have to bow down before me laugh

I did play with the charm skill and discovered how to do it. I just don't have any nifty charms right now - I would prefer strength on my sword and shield but only have minor ones. Guess I need to trade them in for something a bit more powerful.

I'm so far using freeze and elemental hail on those little cowboy suckers - I'll try the disc when I get another bunch of them together. That imp shaman keeps jumping around and I'm having a time nailing his butt lol

Back to the fray.

I still don't know who killed the duke. frown What happened to the assasin that I was supposed to talk to? He just called his henchmen on me and left the merchant's guild. I've been wandering all over the place and nobody has anything important to say about this.

The dwarf concil member disappeared. I gave the axe back to the dwarf king. He didn't say anything about armour. The axe is back in its shrine, but no dwarf council member.

What do I do with the 3 holy items? I haven't found any clue about what to do with them.

I have the dragon shield, belt and gloves. Where are the other parts?

How do I put the treasure map together? I have 4 pieces.

Syd, I am so tired of running in fruitless searches, I will be too tired to bow to you.

Found the dwarf. He's at the council place now. I've got all 7. But no dragon armour other than what I already have.

And I'm still stuck on all the other things mentioned above.

Hey Row, happydance I did and did just fine-the flying disc is good and things are expensive in the Wastelands-those cowboy imps are a royal pain to the Divine one.
Unlike adventure, not every little detail need to be accomplished. The game goes on, it's yours. bravo

Rowan, you take the three holy items to a tomb where you place them on the altars (three things are needed...) and you are asked what you want to have in return. The location of the place where you do this is in some bushes that are near the abbey -northeast side, I believe - you can't see it easily, but there will be steps in the bushes. While you are there, be sure and NOT touch the tombs, or it will wreck getting your item. I asked for the sword in return, for this seems to be the most useful.
As far as the assassin quest - I think I asked Sir Dante about it, someone correct me if that is not right. He agreed to arrange a meeting. The meeting took place in an abandoned house (in Verdistis) in the north part of town. When I got there, the assassin was waiting for me, and battle ensued. The assassin talks about the duke. You have a choice of telling the commander about it beforehand, in which case he will be waiting to help out if need be, or you can tell him afterward if you think you are strong enough on your own (and at this point you most likely are).
On the treasure map, you just drag the pieces over to each other. The treasure really isn't all that great though, but it's in a cave in the dark forest next to the mountains.
Syd, if you picked the sword when you gave the holy items up, you do have the right sword.
Remember Row, you don't have to finish all these quests if you don't want to! Just as many as you want to do. I would do the ceremony with the holy items though, so you can have a good weapon.

The leader of the assassins will have slipt out through a secret passage. Check out the cupboard in his room. Be prepared for henchmen.

I will go back to that cupboard. Thanks, acornia.

Syd, don't you worry sometimes that Josephina, that other guy who had the dragon heart, and anyone else who vanishes (instead of being killed) will show up altogether at the very end? eek

Row I can tell you for sure they at least show up once before the very end and with this group I'll bet we see them at the big battle also.

I'm still wandering around the Wastelands killing imps, sand and devil demons and their minions. I'm supposed to be finding a black dragon but came on a dragon rider that zapped me into oblivion three times so I turned around and headed the other direction for awhile until I can figure out how to kill him.

Nickie, you are so right about the deadly disk skill - it's been a life saver for me. I did manage to level up once more and haven't decided what to use my other 6 skill points on. I did find the mithryl armor and am wearing that. Almost bought it but decided to wait a bit - glad I did because one of the sand demons dropped it - whew - saved me about 24,000 gold pieces. I also dumped the dragon shield. You guys were right - it damages way to easily and costs a fortune to fix. Still haven't charmed anything yet. Don't really have any good charms to put on anything.

And I see you have a cake Row - Happy Birthday laugh

Thanks, Syd. Guess what I got for my birthday? Sssh!! Don't tell Nickie or the others. I got Morrowind and Zanzarah. happydance

I'm not at the Wastelands yet. I'm holding back from being blessed. I'm being stubborn about cleaning up some older quests first. I did finsh the duke's murder quest. Thanks to acornia for the secret cupboard tip. Commander Ralph finally talked to me.

I'm off next to find the treasure and then maybe I'll work on the holy weapon.

I've got about 8 unfinished quests left. Some I think are finished, but I'm just not doing some little thing to make them show as solved.

Rowan, happydance and I heard what you got for your birthday-yea!!
Glad you didn't listen to my advise, you sounded so defeated, I'm sorry, but nothing a good solving of a quest didn't cure. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" />
Listen to Syd about the wastelands-that flying discs is the only way to battle through it-it makes a Divine think no one realizes they are divine and should show a little respect.
Actually they are funny in a pain in the tush kind of way!! devil
You three are good and great for each other and with Nickie and Zanthia'a wonderful memory and notes, shoot Josephina will be singing the blues

hi rowan,

happy birthday! you got some great games as birthday presents--lots of good gaming ahead for you happydance

as a fighter type character just using a little bit of magic i never used the deadly disk skill at all and had no problem through the wastelands. but i have heard it is a great skill and all of your comments here just emphasize that it is indeed true.

Happy Birthday Rowan! Those are some nice presents!
Syd, with some experimentation, you can hold down your mouse button when you click to use the disc spell, and it will go wider and longer, and really wipe 'em out!

Well, hello everybody. Thanks for all your birthday wishes and most of all thanks for helping me struggle through this new type of game. I've saved everyone a piece of cake. Enjoy!

I didn't get to play much today, but I did manage to finally meet the doctor and settle that plague and poisoned field problem. Stubbornness to pursue that quest paid off. What I hadn't done to trigger that closure was pick up the note in the doctor's basement. So many times I've read these notes or clues but never put them in my inventory. So I just retraced my steps and did it. Boring to retrace, but satisfying to accomplish!

I still have to complete the Tingalf chapter, so I guess I will knock my head against a wall tomorrow.

Syd, you must be close to finishing soon. I'm looking forward to when I clean up these little quests so I can experience what you are doing now.

Thanks for the cake, Row, how nice! happydance Good for you for persevering and getting the quests done. You're right, it's those little details that can keep you from completing something when it seems like you've done everything under the sun. You should be very proud of yourself for doing so well - DD isn't a short game by any stretch, and the quests, as you well know, are numerous bravo
