Hi all,

Well I cleaned out the Anskram Keep but not sure if it somehow got messed up by me going in the front way first and then going up to the top of the keep to enter the door there.

I destroyed all the portals and got rid of the imps but I don't get the big guy at the end to fight. I beleive I searched all the rooms to be sure I got the portals but still get no fight at the end and the jarl doesn't regonize the quest as being done.

I read in the walkthrough that this was a glitch but I have installed the 1.3 patch so don't know what is going on.

I have to go back to the walkthrough site because I think there might be a fix for this so have to see if there is anything I can do. I hope I don't have to start this game over because of this thing happening.

I do have old saves so if worse comes to worse than I can at least install one of them and go on with a different party.

Oh well....this is where I am at now.


Edit......Ok I went to the site and here is what I found.

Anskarn Keep Bug: (game version 1.0)

If you leave Anskarn keep without clearing it, you will not be able to complete the quest -- the big imp will never appear. M&M supposedly has a fix for this, but it didn't work for me. The following workaround though did work for me:

1. Leave the keep, and position yourself by the entrance on the top floor

2. ALT-TAB out of the game, navigate to the "minisaves" directory, and remove all of the anskarn* files from the minisaves directory. You can safely delete them, but if you're a prudent person like me, you can just move them out to a temporary directory. ALT-TAB back into the game.

3. Enter anskarn via the TOP entrance. Use the switch/double-doors in the center to get from the back half to the front half. Everything will be reset. Kill all the imps, and a "ding" sound will be heard. A big imp will appear in the front room. Kill him and you're done.

I had great fun with this game. The ending was difficult too.

Just came back to let you know that what I have posted above did acually worked.

I just removed the minisaves for Anskarn Keep which were near the top of the folder and replayed the keep killing all inside and got the message in the quest book that it was complete.

This is great because you don't loose anything in your inventory or experience. You just get to replay the keep and finish.

Yes Alan the end is very hard but hopefully we will be strong enough for the big guy at the end.

VHL, sure glad I went in the door at the top first. The only problem I had was finding that trap door on the floor. Didn't know it was up there.
Got my fighters promoted to Gladiators yesterday, now I'm broke again. I must not be using my money wisely because I'm always broke.

Haven't found anyone yet who will promote my Scholar to a Lich, but haven't been to all the towns yet. I've been clearing the area's outside the first towns we visited to get a little stronger.

Well after cleaning out the keep I got my fighters promoted to Crusaders.

Now it will be the ladies turn to get promotions.

We are level 10 for all.
Have to go to Guberland to get the ladies started.

The lich guy is in Frostgaurd (spelling?)so when you get there you will be able to get that.

Well I didn't really play with this game very much yesterday because I decided to see how Ghotic II was and its not bad so far.

VHL, I did the quest to get the mines producing again yesterday. After finishing, the Jarl wouldn't recognize that it was done. Thought I was going to have to do the whole mine quest over again and finally found one little piece of the wall up on top that wasn't knocked down when I broke the wall where the girl and the cats were at. Soon as I knock the little piece down I heard the sound that you hear when a quest is done. Whew!

I'm now in Frosgard looking around but haven't done anything yet except talk to the Jarl.

Hi all,

Good that you made it to Frostguard. The guy you are looking for (I think) was near the Tavern.

I am still running around back and forth finishing up a couple of quests in the first 2 areas but will venture out soon to other areas.

I did free the prisoner though and keep forgetting to go to the Tavern to get him and escort him to the Jarl. Ok on my way.

I started to play Gothic II yesterday and just kept on playing it and having fun.

Ok...Ok...today I will continue with this game hehe.

Well played yesterday and hired a guy in Guberland to help us so now we have 6 people fighting together. He was waiting near the guy that trains you. The only thing bad about that is that it is expansive to take a boat to anywhere since the price is for 6 and the money gets used up real fast.

Oh well have to visit the dungeons to get more money....so what else is new?

I found a Town Gate lady in Guberland yesterday for the first time ever and wouldn't you know it....I didn't have enough money to hire her. She was near the Temple so will have to see just how many people I can have working for me.

I know the first guy you take with you doesn't stay with you for the whole game so that will open up his space for hire but by then I may not need the lady because I will (I hope) have my own Town Portal people.

We are level 12 and just visiting places to get more quests and or finishing up other quests.

At the moment clearing out the outside of Guberland.

You will have to do the minisave trick again if you leave the ice castle (can't remember the name) before completing it.

VHL, I haven't had any extra money to hire anyone until now. Got a little bit left over now. Got my Scholar promoted to a mage. Yay! We can finally use Town Portal and Lloyd's Beacon. When I get stronger, I'm going back after those two in the room where that key was that you needed to get the book. Took about 30 tries to grab that key and run.
With a lot of resting, I'm almost to the Lich Lab to promote my other one to a Lich.

I've never played with a Lich before. What are some of the best spells to use? I have lots of them I've been saving for her to learn when she's promoted.

Hi all,

Well one of my girls has a lot of spells saved in her inventory but can't use any of them until I get her promoted. One is healer but the other one isn't promoted yet. She will be my dark side lich and don't remember at the moment what spell she has.

It was Gothic II's turn yesterday so didn't play this game. Today will have to continue with this one so we can learn some of those spells we have been lugging around.

Sounds like you are moving right along and will finish way before me at the rate I am going.

Well made it to level 13 and am cleaning out the Mountain Pass between Thronheim and Thjorgard.

Where do they come up with these names??

I hate harpies!!!! Well in this game they are called something else but they look like harpies.

I am finally able to use Town Portal but only in the area so far. Need Master to be able to go anywhere.

Have to go after the orbs for the banks next becuse that way we can use the Safety Deposit Boxs to store stuff.

So how are the rest of you doing?

I need to get one of my girls to promoted to scholar soon.

Don't know which spells I will use more and I do not see fireball or fly or invisibility in this game so will have to get back on which spells to use.

Got my scholar promoted to Lich now, so everyone is promoted. Sure was rough getting through the Lich Lab.

I'm in Lindisfarne now, looking for the guy who will tell me how to summon the dragon. Will probably just look at the dragon and run.

I did the orbs quest yesterday. Sure is nice having a place to store some of your stuff now.

Thronheim is one of the most confusing towns in the game. Still get lost and can't find my way around. Had to go outside once and go around to the side and come in another door to get to another part of the town.

Having fun playing with the Lich now since I've never used one in any of the M&Ms games before.

Hey way to go on the promotions Kayc.
We did finally clear out the Mountain Pass yeah and also cleared out the Mines and got them working yesterday.

Yes that Town is confusing and is like a maze but get around it we must.

I am not going to bother trying to get the Dragon this time...no way....uh uh. Run sounds like a plan.

Although in one of the cheats hints it says to go in and get the chests and then run back out so may try that.

We are now level 16 and 17 so getting stronger in damage and spells. Love that the spells get stronger as we get stronger.

I use elemental bolt a lot but it uses mana up fast.

Well onward we dance.
