Maybe I'm jumping the gun a little but how do I get skills or a higher skill level?

By the way, I'm really good at stealing stuff

Every time you gain a level, you get a point to spend on any skill you want, and every 5th level you get an extra point.

Click on the skills button at the bottom of your interface, I forget what it looks like, a screen will open showing one of the skill paths (either survivor, warrior, or mage), click on the arrows to move from one path to the next. Click on any skill to use a point.

I bet you have leveled and don't even know yet.

The nice thing about DD is it is rather easy.
You do not have to chose just the things from your character-Warrior- you can also chose points from the other characters and use them.
Just don't spread your points out too much..the more in one categories, the better you become.
It's fun to look and chose what you want for your
warrior...I did like the lock pick from the survivor, and enchant weapons from warrior and a spell or two from the mage.
Also, to become proficient in your weapon of choice..sword, bow whatever..

You've probably already noticed this, but the warrior has a "special move" that is really effective.

Ok Ingie, I not following the whole points concept. Can you explain it to me. I kinda know what the skills are but I don't know about the points. Also how do I become proficient in weapon, just by using it?

Ok Nickie, I have no idea what special move I have. So far all I'm good is stealing and swinging my sword.

did you find the User Manual for the game? It's a pdf on Disc 1. It sounds like you should get a little better acquainted with the interface at the bottom of the screen and reading the manual is useful for that. There are buttons on the interface that allow you to browse skills (this is where you can find the special move), browse potions, choose your weapon etc. but reading the basics can certainly help.

Here we go, hope this will help....

Say, you have 6 points to use. This will told to you when click on the screen that shows the skills.
You may go through and read each character's skills. The ones that are open to you now will be shown.
You may then make your decision..let's say you want to be proficient with a sword, click on that skill..a little light comes on under that skill. To reach perfection in a skill I think it's 5 points in that skill. Then say, looking at the thief's skill, lockpick looks very interesting, so click on it(it should be open to you)..you have now used up 2 of the 6 points..And you want a little magic for the big skellies..go into Mage and click on a really nice sounding skill..oh, meteorite strike..something like that.Again, chose between what is open to you at this time.
Again, you have used another skill point. Now you have 3 left..you may spread them around or go back and see if you're able to up the skills you have chosen.
Some will depend on your level if you're able to.
If not, you can save your poins or pick another skill, like IDing, or repair..
Every time you level, you get xx amount of skill points and every 5th level you get a bonus skill point..might be 10th, long time since I played, and lousy memory, but you'll know.
Now that you have these skills, you are able to use them as you go about your duty of clearing up the place and finding out why the Mage is Mad.
For your special skill, there is a little icon, I think on the right side, near the middle, click it and watch your warrior..whirl and kick..very nice in the heat of combat.

You get the first pyramid stone when you unlock the catacombs. The elf gives it to you. Then it sits in the misc part of your inventory.

The diary icon keeps track of everything that you've done so far. So that's the place to check for your current quests, look at conversations you've had with characters, see what battles you've won...so that will tell you if you've unlocked the catacombs and have the pyramid quest yet or not.

It's probably a good idea to wait until you've built some combat experience before you use the one to find the other though.

The clues to unlocking the catacombs comes from the frozen elf on a stick you saved..just keep walking around.
You should have your mini map on the screen, it helps let you know what areas you've not expored yet.

Remember talk to anyone about everyting..

Hi

I found it best to explore as much of the first upper surface area - the village and it's surrounding land - as I could, before I ever ventured into the catacombs.
That way I mapped the area, killed as many enemies as possible to get their goodies AND got my levels up a bit

Otherwise, being the wimp that I am, I just got anhialated down there in those catacombs

How do i measure if I'm hurt or nnot. I just finsihed a battle with skeletons and I think I should be hurt but i don't know how to tell. And I jumped up to a Level 3 somehow after that battle when I got the 2nd pyramid.

Your health bar is what tells you..look for the red bar..the blue bar is called mana and that is what is needed to cast magic.
Your red potions, rest, eating, some drinks will keep your health up to full..keep an eye on it during bigger battles and SAVE before and after battles.
Good for you!! Level 3..were you able to find your skill charts??
Also, good idea after picking up your goodies, to check your equipment. Don't use anything that carries a curse..and don't use items not identified yet..just in case they have a curse on them.
