Thanks Jean! Glad you got the rune - have you visited the swamp yet? And thanks to every body from me as well - couldn't play the game without your help!

Hi nickie:

No, I haven't gone to the swamp yet. I'm thinking that maybe I should strengthen my fairies some more, since I can't beat the guy on the way to the hut, or Seamus in Tirilin. If I'm not able to in the next day or so I'll head off to the swamp to see what's there.

Have you been there yet?

Jean

Yes, it took me a bit of tro and froing to get more mana and potions. There are a couple fights there where you are against multiple opponents, like the battle with Seamus. You probably know this already : Strength is important in those, but so is realizing which fairy is best for which opponent. Even if you don't feel like looking at the chart, you can tell if your fairy can deal with the other - the game will tell you "ineffective" or "highly effective" or something like that, when you fire at the enemy. The good thing is, if you lose and do it again, the creatures you are up against change, sometimes giving you a better chance.
I am still trying to get past the third shadow guy before I can get in the tower. No matter how they change, they are all tough!

Forgot to ask you Jean -did you figure out how to change your fairies in battle? You just use the page up and page down, in case you didn't.

I did figure out how to move my fairies up and down in battle, but it doesn't matter a heck of a lot since I just realized I have 3 nature fairies!!! I also have a stone guy and a water fairy. My stone guy is at 16, one fairy at 15 and the other at 9. Since I'm not very effective, though, I get squelched a lot! wave

So far (after the swamp and to the tower) I don't think there are other kinds of fairies to capture, with the exception of a couple psi ones. When you build up your guys a little, they will change dramatically. I think your stone guy changes at 20, not positive on that. I've been busy building them up, and I think the swamp is easier than the woods.

Does anyone know what it means when, for a fairy's passive spells it gives 2 squares, one solid green and the other rainbow colored? What is the rainbow colored one for?

I beat Seamus, finally, in tirilin and have gone to the swamp. I like training with the elf there since it's harder, but you get more points.

How is everyone else doing? wave

There are 3 ways for spells to be listed. I'll use nature as an example.

(1) If it has 2 green squares, then you can use a single or double nature passive spell.

(2) If it has one green square, and another color (let's say blue for water), you can then use a single nature passive, or one of the sellers will sell a nature/water combination spell.

(3) The 3rd option is what you described as a rainbow (again I'll use nature/water). This would mean you can use a double nature passive or a nature/water combination. In other words, the rainbow gives you the option of 1 and 2 described above. It is the most versatile. laugh <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" /> laugh

Thanks, Stichman! So many details to remember. I just realized that a person can switch between spells by using the middle mouse button. I have a wheel, and when I roll it my fairies show at the top. I don't really have a middle mouse button as mine is one of those optical mice. It says in the book I can configure the hot keys in the options menu, so I may have to do that.

Thanks again! wave

It's me again! How do I switch fairies once I have 6 of them? I went to London thinking I have to put them in the chest, but nothing happened. I have a corbot I'd like to use.

Thanks,

When you are in London, go into the inventory screen. The tab above the inventory items is your fairies. Just drag the one you want on top of the one you want to replace.

You can always look at this screen any time. I always use it to check the hit points and levels of any new fairy I catch. I then look at the fairy book for the new fairy and see if it can evolve.

Evolving fairies makes them much stronger. I just evolved a light fairy and her hit points went from 75 to 150, and the new light fairy can evolve also! laugh

Thanks, it worked! Where do you find the light fairies? So far I haven't come across any.

I'm done for the night. When I get two tired my fairies fly right off the platforms! rolleyes

Jean: I belive the light fairy is in the Ruins In the Forest. You get there by going through one of the gates in Tiralin, but you will need the Key from the dwarf which you don't get for a while.

You will get a light fairy after the arena, but you must trade it to continue, so when it happens, there is no point in trying to make it any better. laugh

Aha! I wondered how to get to the Ruins! I've been trying by going through the Forest where the sign says "The Hut". Did you know there are fairies in there that are levels 31 and above? eek I dove into the light for those. rolleyes The second time around I avoided them and got two gold spheres.

Have you been through the Catacombs yet?

Hi Jean, did you try the swamp? I finally got through all the battles in a row ( I had so much trouble with the last shadow elf but the dwarf battles were no problem at the tower, and I'm just wandering around admiring the view. I think the problem with the one battle is he often used dark magic, and I had nothing to combat it.

Hi nickie:

I've been to the village in the swamp, but not actually through the swamp yet. I fought two elves but haven't found the third. The leader says I'm not worth fighting until I beat them all.

Theres a prickly bush blocking my way into the swamp, so I guess I need a fairy to dissolve it. I can't go in the water, can I?

I have a lot more to do, I see! happydance

Jean, from the town there are two ramps into the swamp. The one is blocked by the bush, but the other one isn't. I guess you knew that though, if you were fighting shadow elves. The other bad one is right around there- you might have to cross water. Not a problem, if you are not in there too long. If it looks like something you could ordinarily jump across, you can probably make it. If you don't guess right and start sinking, and your jump key doesn't help, you can just use your runes to go somewhere else and not drown.

Congratulations for finishing the game, Stitchman. How long did it take you?

I'm still wandering around in the swamp, nickie. I killed the third shadow elf, but haven't fought the big guy yet. I'm looking for the nature card, which I read is somewhere there.

There are so many fairies to fight that I finally went back to the Fairy Garden and spent long enough training that I was able to buy 5 manas, 5 big potions, 5 medium and 5 small. I figure now I can go back to the swamp and not have to keep coming out to get more mana and health points.

How are you doing? wave

Hi Jean, Yes - I had to go back and forth a lot in the Swamp until I got my guys levels up. Right now I'm at the tournament at the big tree (been through the tower, mountains, and part of the realm of clouds). I don't know if you already know this, but if you look at the map, it will show an exclamation mark where you need to go to make the story continue.

It took about 45 hours to finish, a lot of that time was spent building up fairies for specific battles.

Jean: You need to find an island in the swamp that has a Stonehenge like structure on it. After the battle you will find the Fairy card of nature letting you get past those special bushes as long as your lead fairy is a nature one.

The island can be hard to find because you cannot see it from very far away. laugh

Oops, another question. Should I collect all the fairies I see? I already have 2 corbot's and don't need more, but it keeps asking me if I want to capture them. On the other hand, if I capture them does that mean they won't show up at that particular tree again? In the swamp, every time I go back, no matter how many times I've defeated them, they show up at the same spot.

I guess Stitchman would have a more definative answer, but I would think you would not - for one thing there is a limited amount of globes, unless you have a ton of money, and at most you would only want to collect one of a type. What I am not sure of is whether you have to collect fairies you don't think you will ever use.Hope not. But no, if you catch the fairy, another one can appear in its spot. I've found that when your guys get tough, and you've been through the same area several times, few fairies will show themselves. Now I have a question. Do you have to have what is in the little box in the mountain area that the dwarf "gives" you after you show him that you have the ancient dwarf tools? It's a real pain to keep making attempts, and if I don't have to have it, I would really like to forget about it.

When you start a battle,, it will say above the fairies head if you do not have the fairy yet. You can try to get all the fairies, but it would be extremely difficult since you can only get some by trading with other fairy collectors you meet. Also, some of your fairies evolve, meaning you no longer have the original and would need to capture another one. I finished with 50 fairies.

Yes, that box by the dwarf was an incredible pain, it took me about a dozen tries to get it (but once you get it you can then warp away without having to make the jumps back). The item you get is needed to activate the elevator in the dwarf town which leads to the fire caves. You MUST capture a fairy there called Pix so you can trade it for a key in the Shadow Realm
