I have managed to get to the point where I actually get a boat to go chase the thief.. BUT once I'm on the high seas it bounces me back to the desktop. Any ideas?? I'm running win 98se with ati rage fury pro graphics, p2 650 processor and oodles of ram!!

I don't know whether the patch covers this problem, but did you install the patch?

Also, have you tried reducing video or audio acceleration?

I recently installed GG but haven't started playing it yet so when I read the message about problems with this game, I went and downloaded the 2 patches.

The 1st patch GG_103.zip would not unzip for me though the elton.zip was fine. It might be because I'm on Win95. If possible, could you send me the unzipped file from the 1st patch???

Its on its way.. may take some time as its 1.8 mb long

Put the file I send you into the GG folder then run it..

patched my game.. got to the same point.. going to the Island and Bounce, straight back to the desktop

Any ideas folks?? I think it may be when you switch from cd 1 to cd 2... I did the full install option...

I have some saves from the unpatched version.
I don't know which save would be closest to where you are. Here's the list of save names:

Any save in particular sound like it's close to where you are? Or would you rather I sent you a zip file of all of them? I played the game so long ago I don't know which save would be closest to where you are.

Also, I don't know if saved games from the unpatched version will work with the patched version. If you use one of these saves, you might have to uninstall the game and then reinstall it and not patch it.

I did have another thought.. could it be the autorun thats looking for cd2 even though I did a full install??? If so, where do I disable autorun in win 98se??

Charging glowpal sounds closest, I have got one just before the boat.. the games bounces just after I have got on the boat and started sailing around, I get the clock thinking thingy then zip, nada nothing!!

If you could send me the Before boat one, I could try uninstalling and doing a min install to see if that helps too. I just can't face doing the first half of the game for a third time in a week

It could be the autorun. That seems to cause problems with some games on some computers. Here's how to disable autorun in Win 98.

Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop and choose Properties.
Click the Device Manager tab.
Click the + next to where it says CDROM to expand the listing.
Double-click the name of your CDROM.
On the Settings tab, uncheck the box next to Auto-Insert Notification.
OK out of it and reboot.

I'll email you the glowpal save in case that doesn't work.

Weird.. I didn't touch anything went in to do what you suggested and the option which was clicked b4 was Not clicked..
