I have been playing Aura without any problems at all, until the temple circle puzzle which becomes a black screen when I click on the puzzle. If you click in the dark the circles are there spinning for a few seconds, then black again. There is no way to make them stop and total black around. I downoloaded the patch, but it did not help. I have a fairly new Toshiba Satellite notebook P4 W-XP 2.6 gigs with nvidia force something video card. It was top of the line for gaming. Anyone know what to do? No problems with any other games and I have them all.

Anyone know if you have to start the game over from the beginning after patching it for the patch to take effect?

Have you tried the usual fixes for game problems?
Tweaking audio and video acceleration?
Closing unnecessary background programs?

I have never had problems, so the answer is no. Can you educate me? This is such a cool game. But, I have been reading that laptops give some people trouble. And, I have read that the new Myst IV Revelation does not work on video cards in laptops. I am shocked at this. Any thoughts?

The usual fixes are to try adjusting video and audio acceleration and see if turning it down (or in some cases turning it up) has any effect. Check the bottom of Inferno's site on this webpage for instructions on tweaking acceleration in XP.

The other fix is to make sure all non-essential background programs are closed. TAC recommends this on their webpage for Aura ***here*** , among other things and gives instructions.

It may be true that Myst IV doesn't work on video cards in laptops. The information I see on the Ubisoft support site is that these are the required specs:

Quote:

*NOTE*
These minimum requirements are not necessarily the final requirements and are subject to change up until the official release of the game.

In order for Myst 4 Revelation to run properly, your PC must meet or exceed these minimum requirements:

Supported OS: Windows 98/2000/Me/XP (only)
Processor: 700 MHz Pentium III or AMD Athlon or better
RAM: 128 MB RAM (256 MB required for XP)
Video Card: 32 MB DirectX 9-compliant video card (see supported list*)
Sound Card: DirectX 9-compliant sound card
DirectX: DirectX 9.0 (included on disc)
DVD: 4x DVD or faster
Hard Drive Space: 1.4 GB free

*Supported Video Cards at time of release

* ATI Radeon 7000 to 9800 or better
* NVIDIA GeForce 1/2/3/4/FX families
* Matrox Parhelia (PC only)
* Intel i865G to i915G

Laptop models of these cards not fully supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game.
I don't know what they mean by "not fully supported." What would halfways supported be? Some laptops work and others not?
