I bought the game about four years ago when I had Windows 98...I now have a Pentium 4 with Windows XP. Does anyone else have problems running the game on XP. Any ideas on how I can correct the blurring on colors on the screen every once in a while? whistle

Some people are not able to run Sanitarium at all on their Win XP computers. Others have no problem. Success seems to depend on computer configuration.

I haven't heard of this blurring of colors before, but hopefully someone else can help you.

Blurred colors can often be corrected by A) adjusting the screen refresh rate to 100 Hz, and/or B) decreasing the graphics acceleration.

What Jim said is true. However, be careful when changing your refresh rate to 100Hz as some monitors don't support it. This could permanently damage your monitor. Best bet is to make sure that you know what refresh rates your monitor supports before changing it.

I found where to do the refresh rate and my monitor only goes up to 85Hz. However, not quite sure where to decrease the graphics acceleration. I found the graphics processor...GeForce4MX 420, does it have something to do with that? Thanks for the help by the way.

Then try setting the refresh rate at 85 Hz. If that doesn't take care of the problem by itself, you will need to lower your graphics acceleration. To do this, right-click anywhere on your desktop. Choose Properties, then Settings from the next menu. Click the Advanced button, then choose the Troubleshooting tab. There is your graphics acceleration slider. smile

Sanitarium ran perfectly for me on Windows Me, no problems at all. Thanks BJ, I am like Raj and going to load up Blackstone and for the life of me I could not remember where the graphics acceleration was. I was waiting for an answer but of course all are nite nite already. So what to do with GK 1, it is so blocky, Nicky here lent me a copy, is that how it is? Or can it be made to look better?
Oh and by the way, Sanitarium was excellent, playing again through my grandson, he beat the game, not me. He is now playing the beginning up to the Hive, he did all the ending games for me, creepy kid, not!! I love him to pieces.

GK1 is just an old game with old graphics. One small step better than MI 1&2. Not much to be done about it. Play it for the story.

Warning: There is one very brief bit of animated nudity in the game. (Naked dancing voodoo queen.) You may be glad the graphics are the way they are at that point. wink

Gee. Because of the pixelly graphics, I never even noticed she was naked. Imagine the problems if they remade that game with high-res graphics.
