I have installed this game, but get an error message when I try to open and play. (Also, the monitor seems HUGE.) Can anyone help me? Please be very specific, as I'm not all that computer literate.

I played this on XP for awhile with no problem. There was a patch for this game--did you patch it? However, I found that when I patched the game that caused a problem later in the game---I was lucky--I just moved over to my 98 and played it over there--I think I remember a long thread about this--I will go take a look in the archives and see if I can find it--

edit---I just did a quick search and found that was a different problem---

Hopefully someone who is more savvy will be along any minute with a brilliant solution to your problem--Sorry i could not help you out!

Welcome to GB!

We need you to be more specific about your problem. Please read the sticky thread first and then add the info to this thread so we can help you.

PS ROTS plays well in XP --- as long as nothing else is conflicting.

What do you mean the monitor seems HUGE?

Since Riddle of the Sphinx uses QuickTime, you may have to uninstall your current version of QuickTime and install the version that came with the game. Be sure to uninstall the current version completely no matter what warning messages it gives you. If the uninstall of the current version leaves anything behind, it will cause conflicts when you install the version that came with the game.

Yes, I think it's the quicktime. How do I uninstall it? And, more importantly, can I get it back when it's uninstalled?

You'd uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs in your Windows Control Panel.
And it's easy to install the latest version of QuickTime when you want it back.

Thanks. But where do I find the quicktime to reinstall it? Do I go on line, or is it somewhere on my computer?

Choose the link for "QuickTime 6.5.2 Standalone Installer"
Where it says Select Operating System, choose the download for Win 98/Me/2000/XP.

You're welcome.
Hope you can get the game to behave.
