Good Evening, I have been trying to install this game on my Win98 machine with a Creative Encore DVD/CD/Rom drive.
I put the disk in the drive, and the auto run comes up, and I click on that, and the drive freezes. I do a control/alt/delete to try to close the program, and get a Win/window saying that windows has become unstable, and then the machine crashes. I tried to install with the install exe on the disk instead of using the auto run, and got an immediate crash of Windows. Any idea what the problem is? It worked ok with Win95.

Can't help you exactly but I notice on the bottom of the box I have that it says:

"Installation Problems? Call: 423-546-7846"

Sounds like they are expecting you! laugh

I didn't do it......and if I did I'm not guilty!

Well that phone number is a very long distance number for me. But it gave me an idea. I went to Google, and did a search on this game, and found the official website, not GTE, and there they gave me step by step instructions (with pictures) on how to set up my computer to run this progam.
I will try that. If that doesnt work, then they have a support email address, which is not the one listed on the box, and I will ask them for help. Thanks for giving me the idea! I also found the extras scenes for download to the program! Excellent site.

Sometimes I help even if it is by accident. I was in a hurry when I posted that phone number. I have no idea where that Area Code is but I figured if you didn't find another way to get the info that would be a "last resort" idea. Glad you found it. I hope it works out for you. Are you aware there are several possible endings to the game? I worked my way through it without a WT and had a mediocre ending. Thought I would someday replay it with a WT and see how the "best" ending would be worked out. Looks like I'll never get that far, though. laugh

Hello to all. I have actually played the game and loved it. I finished and survived but I went nuts doing it. Loved the game tho. YOu have to find the Rubiyat and save the world from Germany. the graphics are good and the ending is powerful.

Hi JayJayKay, wave

I am sorry that I am so late responding to this, and hope that the information is of some help to you.

I have this game, and when I first played it, it was on 3.1. The second time I played it, I had upgraded the software on my computer to WIN95, then finally WIN98. Like you, the software would not load, and finally I had to go into DOS to manually load the software to play the game. Look at the box that your game came in. If it says WIN95/98 compatible, Version 1.2, it should load. If it is version 1.0 or 1.1, you may have to do what I did, and go through DOS.

I have tried twice to load this game. It freezes while installing. JJK, if you could share that website, I'd be forever grateful smile

My version 1.0 played in Windows 98, but had a copy-protection problem with one of my drives (an incompetent Creative 5X DVD drive that gave me lots of copy-protection problems with games) so I had to play from the CDR drive (this was back before they invented CDRW's and I had a 6X/2X CDR drive). The game installed OK from the Creative drive, but kept asking for the CD when I tried to play the game. In fact, I think this was the game that actually spit the drive tray out out me when I tried to start the game. I'd push the tray back in and click the OK button and out the tray would come again. Anyway, eventually I reinstalled and played from the CDR drive.
My box says Windows 95 and 3.1 and Mac. I wasn't aware that Titanic even had a DOS install.

I have to admit, that it is the cheaters way to get it to run. A lot of screaming, yelling, ranting and (don't forget) raving, but that was the only way it would work on this machine after the software upgrades. It was very grainy and jerky, but it worked.

The version I had came with two different installs. There was a note warning against using the Direct X version because there was something wrong with it. I tried the other version, but couldn't get it to play, so I used the DX version and it worked fine since it wouldn't install the bad DX, as it was an older version than what I had.

Ok, I have the same game as Jenny and the same OS as JJK. I originally tried to install it in a DVD/CD drive. That has since gone bad and I now have a CDwrite and a regular CD. Maybe I'll try it in the CDwrite and see if it will work for me like it did for Jen. Will also check out the "update" smile Thank you

Oh yes, I will also do the install that Pokey mentions...the DX one.
