Your mention of Shivers re-kindled my interest, so I 'dug' out that big ol' box, dusted it off & put it in the lineup of games to play (still had my receipt for $9.99 from CompUSA, October 1997).
I can't even remember the game environment, but I
do know I didn't finish it. Was I too scared?... did it glitch up on me?... was I simply too dumb? I guess I'll find out when I play it again (it'll be like playing a brand new game... yippee!).
The big, 8½ x 10½ inch box came with a very informative, 96-page booklet, complete with Walkthrough. On its back cover is the announcement for the upcoming sequel,
Shivers II, coming in Spring 1997, followed by this teaser:
"It seemed like a friendly town at first. At least that's why Mike and my friends had picked Cyclone as the backdrop for their rock video. But by the time I arrived on the scene, things got strange. Not one person would tell me where they were. My only clues led to the cave dwellings out in the desert. I know I had to find them. My mind raced as I drove to the caves.
I swallowed hard as I entered the forboding darkness. I had only taken two steps when the wailing echos deafened me. The walls closed in on me from all directions....."
Don't think I got that sequel, but it sure looks good!

Marian, for the reminder about how good
Shivers was (and is).
