Thank you Marian. I tried to play this when I first started gaming and thought it was too hard. Now I think I will pull it out of the BAAGS pile and enjoy it as soon as I have finished Scratches.

Anyone else have trouble installing Shivers on XP? I tried about a week ago but couldn't get it to run.

It ran on my XP with no problems.

I have not played this game again on xp, but did play it years ago and just enjoyed it so much!!! A truly great game!...and also saw Zork Nemisis mentioned another great game!! I believe (??)Shivers 2 had a patch for it that came out later..had something to do w/being able to finish the game for some computers..

I went through my BAAGS pile today and found Shivers I and II.
I just installed them on XP and will let you know how they run.
I am inspired.

I read in a review in adventurelantern that Shivers II runs rather well on WinXP, especially if you played it in winNT compability mode which I did for some time. As I have Shivers 2, but alas, not Shivers 1...

Shivers #1 was a very scary game. I liked it alot.

All this talk made me go dig out my copy of Shivers 1. It installed flawlessly on my XP without compatability mode. Just make sure that the game doesn't automatically check the specs when you're installing.
Now I just have to see if I can get it play on full screen.

My game arrived. It installed perfectly on XP in compatibility mode. The teeny-tiny game screen is a bother, so next time I load up I'm going to change my screen resolution to make it full screen - I hope the graphics quality doesn't deteriorate. Can I really only carry one inventory item at a time? This guy must have very small pockets!

You can only carry one pot or lid with you at a time, but as I located other pots and lids, I made a list of where they were so I could retrieve them easily when I found their mates. As I matched them up and captured the corresponding Ixupis, I moved the pots and lids in the farthest parts of the museum to the areas closer to the main lobby so I wouldn't have to travel so far.

I've got the game running in 256 colors and 640 x 480?, I believe, full screen, and the graphics look very good. Not to worry about it looking pixellated or grainy--it looks very nice.

It's exciting to hear so many people are going to play/replay the game.

Hi Marian, I received Shivers today and am about to install...I am really excited. I am playing Dead Reefs now as well and I think this will be a nice break from that. I will let you know how I'm doing in few days or so. Thanks again for the recommendation. That's why I love coming to Gameboomers...I have learned so much from everyone here. It's just awesome.

When I installed it with Program Compatibility it looked great
(although small)but it wouldn't run. I think I will try something else and then try it on my old faithful 98.

Try just installing it, without compatibility; that worked for me! I'm assuming you're using XP?
