Great, r_fike,
I can find the ESC key easy enough even when playing in the dark. Thanks much for the tip.

I was there when she released it! Okay, I didn't manage to see her actually placing it there, but I did "hear" her doing it.

Jalak is not at all what I expected. Did you folks figure it out after I'd left?

Hey, sierramindy - Kirel has been opened as well as a new age called Jalak, which was just released today. About Jalak, Becky:

Click to reveal..

I've managed to get a much needed "item" there, but so far just having fun with the pillars and the blue squares and balls....otherwise, not too sure what to do by myself. I know the notebook says they're not sure what games were played, either..

Oh yeah, what's with all the marijuana plants?! crazy duh

Many of us are finding Jalak to be something of a bust. Apparently...

Click to reveal..
The only thing to do there is play games, like a sports center. You don't move from the pillars. While that would be cool within a larger age, it feels a bit like we've been short-changed to have that be the only thing in the age. Especially with all that wonderful jungle just beyond our reach. I want to run and explore!! LOL

In other news, Cate showed up tonight just as I was about to sign off. She was looking for someone in Kirel but agreed to answer some questions. It took me a bit to remember the command Kat told me for starting a chat log but I managed it around question two. What I don't know is where it is stored and how to get it here. Can anyone help?

I did have an embarrassing moment when Cate was talking. I managed to be one of the first people in Kirel when Cate appeared so I was right in front, sitting down. My avvie did one of her "stand up and walk around at random" moves that she sometimes does when things get laggy. She walked right past Cate and into the wall behind her. Someone "shouted" out - "This is not a photo op!" Um, I'm walking into a wall and not stopping, not walking up next to Cate and saying cheese. It's obvious something is wonky. LOL I love this game, but some people really take it waaaaaay to seriously...

Renee -- Hmmm. I didn't notice that about the foliage. I'll have to take a second look. Sometimes I think game designers are trying to come up with creative new plants and don't realize they resemble something "real." (I still think the tree in the cleft looks just like a pistachio tree, for instance.)

Celtic -- my avatar did exactly the same thing right before the parade started during the St. Patrick's Day celebration in the GameBoomers bevin. It is embarrassing, isn't it? laugh

Congratulations on seeing Cate up close! What did you think of her?

EDIT: By the way, the "Familiar Voices" episode should be near or at an end. Anybody recognize a familiar voice yet?

Celtic Lark.....you crack me up!!

I'm sitting here first thing in the morning, drinking my coffee, and checking my email and of course, my fave forum, Gameboomers, and I read your post and start laughing out loud!!

I can just visualize your avie!! Too funny!

I am really hoping there is something we don't know yet about Jalak. I really can't believe that is all there is to it. Especially when the message from the DRC says something about lots of space to run??
Maybe we will discover a way to get over the walls and explore.....if not, I will be really disappointed. When I was online last night, hardly anyone was in Jalak, after about 1/2 hour, it gets boring.
But I keep thinking about Minkata, and when I first went there I was thinking....okay....a big desert with nothing but sand and a few flags.....what's up with that? But it turned out to be way more that meets the eye.

BTW...to see your chat logs, open your Uru Live folder from wherever you have it installed to (mine is in my documents), and then open the folder that says "Log" and all your chat logs will be stored there. They are listed as "Chat0, Chat1, etc..
ALSO....all the KI pictures you have taken (even deleted ones) are stored there in your "KI Images" folder. You will need to dl the free program from www.irfanview.com in order to open and view them.
Have a great day fellow explorers!

Hmmm.... I went to that folder and I have alert logs and error logs but no chat logs. Maybe I was supposed to do something special after I closed the log to save it? I definitely got confirmation that the log both started and stopped. Weird.

Well, she basically said that she was looking for someone. Can't remember his name - didn't make a note because I thought I had the log - but it was something like Renetree. Apparently he's been instrumental in helping to form the new guilds and helping to introduce them. My impression is that he is a "real" explorer. Cate agreed to answer a few questions but they were mostly about stuff from the past that I didn't understand. Again, I figured I had the chat log and you all would know what was being discussed!

She warned us all to be careful with the Bahro about and said that their presence has been slowing down the restoration but they are still moving forward.

I'm sure someone else who was there did a log and posted it in one of the Myst forums. Sorry I'm kind of useless on this!!

Kat, glad I could make you laugh. You're usually there when I have those moments so I know you have a great visual of that. LOL

Becky - It really is embarrassing when Lark goes all weird like that. I'm not even touching the mouse or keyboard when she does it. She just suddenly decides she's had enough sitting around and needs to stretch her legs. I'm left frantically clicking my mouse and shouting at the screen "Where are you going? I didn't say you could get up!. Sit back down, young lady!" I have discovered that if I click on both mouse buttons at once, she will start "listening" to me again and sheepishly allows me to put her back where I want her. But honestly, if she's a representation of me, I really shouldn't be surprised that she doesn't like to always follow the rules or go along with the crowd. lol

Celtic Lark -- thanks for the info that pushing both mouse buttons stops the out-of-control avatar. I was screaming my head off when it happened to me, too. My family thought I was suddenly losing it. (Even more than usual.)

What does everybody think about the Familiar Voice that showed up in the Cavern yesterday?

Click to reveal..
Were you surprised that it was Phil Henderson? It sounds as though it was very dramatic!

Hmmm. I wonder if Phil will turn out to be the Seeker mentioned in Words. I wish he would "share" a bit more. Will he continue to visit the Cavern between episodes, I wonder?

UruKat...I'm afraid this episode is complete. Jalak is all that it is and nothing more. Graydragon states in URU forum 'Jalak is nothing more than a sandbox' for explorers to play in and think up their own games.

I have seen screenshots of explorers outside the squared area looking on as if they were spectators(sp?), how they got there I don't know. But as far as I know you can not go beyond the walls and explore further.

I'm a little disappointed with this episode. I was hoping for more puzzle solving. This episode gave us another game besides Heek to play and really nothing else...unless you consider the furthering of the storyline.

I'm with you Becky.....I never considered it would be Phil. I was really hoping that Yeesha would be the voice from the past.....oh well. smile

Boshette: I guess it seems so....I was really hoping for it to be more. You can do a running jump off the columns onto the grassy area surrounding it. You have to turn off the fence first of course, by using the bottom left icon in the menu grid. But there is no way to reach those little windows or get beyond the walls. I keep wondering if the flags have any significance, they remind me if the ones in Minkata. duh

For the new players who don't know, Phil Henderson was a Restoration Engineer working with the DRC in 2002. He disappeared in late September of that year in Eder Kemo, leaving behind a message that he had "found a way", and that he would not be coming back.

He returned, over a year after his disappearence. He had been changed by the Journey, and claimed to have physically seen Yeesha, and seemed to have gained abilities, such as making a Relto page appear out of nowhere.

On December 16th, 2003, Phil was abducted by Victor Laxman and Dr. Watson while on the rope bridge in Ae'Gura. He was questioned regarding his activities, warned against returning to several highly unsafe areas, and released approximately two weeks later. Shortly after his release, Phil was recorded as being in the Guild Hall on Ae'Gura when a wall in the area collapsed. All that was found in the ensuing rescue effort was a smashed KI. Most - if not all - of the DRC currently believe Phil to be dead, though some explorers hold out hope that he was somehow saved by some device of Yeesha's.

I thought I would put the edited version of the chat log between Phil and Sharper that someone posted on the MOUL website, in case they missed it.

08/03 18:38:49) Thend: Phil, you've been gone a looong time. Can we assist you?
(08/03 18:39:02) peni: phend is Phil???????

(08/03 18:39:12) phend: Very strange to be back. Feels different...

(08/03 18:39:3 phend: ...to be back here.

(08/03 18:40:0 AKA: can you tell us where you have been?

(08/03 18:40:09) phend: I seen a lot.

(08/03 18:40:21) phend: I was with them.

(08/03 18:40:51) peni: please tell us what you have learned

(08/03 18:40:51) phend: Things are changing...

(08/03 18:41:57) phend: I've been to Noloben... briefly... and many other places.

(08/03 18:42:20) splash1: i thought you were dead Phil
(08/03 18:43:22) phend: Not dead. I was gone. Taken. Searching.

(08/03 18:45:1 phend: I understand more.

(08/03 18:45:57) phend: About events... and Bahro... and...

(08/03 18:46:33) phend: ...changes.

(08/03 18:47:04) AKA: will you teach us what we need to know about the Bahro?
(08/03 18:47:11) phend: They're gathering... here, too?

(08/03 18:47:32) phend: But not like there.

(08/03 18:48:1 Tweek: they have been everywhere, Watchers Sanctuary, REltos, Hoods, City

Ashem'en district

(08/03 18:49:10) phend: There are only a few here...
(08/03 18:49:2 phend: ... not like there.

(08/03 18:49:5 phend: They come and go, but...
(08/03 18:50:16) phend: at times the sky goes dark...
(08/03 18:50:49) phend: ... good and bad. They darken the sky.

(08/03 18:51:00) phend: Gathering.

(08/03 18:51:4 phend: Many ages, even Releeshahn.

(08/03 18:52:15) MattUtah: You've been to Releeshahn?

(08/03 18:52:24) phend: I've seen the dark sky many times recently there...

(08/03 18:52:35) phend: They struggle there.

(08/03 18:52:54) d'ni everything: bahro create darkness?

(08/03 18:53:20) phend: Darkness only from there number.
(08/03 18:54:13) phend: Yes. They come and go, and they struggle now.

(08/03 18:54:22) silverdragonesse: why?
(08/03 18:54:23) phend: They choose now.

(08/03 18:54:43) TomahnaGuy: Choose?
(08/03 18:54:47) TomahnaGuy: Choose what?
(08/03 18:54:50) phend: They can choose now.
(08/03 18:55:07) phend: Their own path.
(08/03 18:55:50) phend: Feedom. No one controls them now.

(08/03 18:56:24) phend: Yeesha can do as she does.

(08/03 18:57:03) phend: The least are free. It should be that way.
(08/03 18:57:39) phend: They struggle... good and evil.
(08/03 18:57:56) phend: The Bahro choose... and they battle.

(08/03 18:58:50) Tweek: Please Phil, who freed them?

(08/03 18:58:59) phend: You and another.
(08/03 18:59:53) phend: You freed them... from the prison. That was the first freeing. It continues.
(08/03 19:00:27) phend: They should be free. But freedom brings choice.

(08/03 19:01:05) phend: Yeesha is who I trust. She knows.
(08/03 19:01:47) phend: Yeesha comes and goes. She plays a role. But sometimes we see her.
(08/03 19:02:34) phend: She is watching.. and considering... and growing.
(08/03 19:03:07) phend: She is often there... in Releeshahn.

(08/03 19:03:59) phend: The Bahro's choices affect us all...
(08/03 19:04:12) phend: even Yeesha...

(08/03 19:04:25) phend: ... but she is powerful.

(08/03 19:05:03) Douglas Sharper: Phil!

(08/03 19:05:06) phend: Some of the Bahro watch you... for good and for ill...

(08/03 19:05:26) Douglas Sharper: It's true? You're alive!

(08/03 19:05:35) phend: here in the cavern they watch and... even guard.
(08/03 19:05:45) phend: Hello Douglas!

(08/03 19:06:54) Douglas Sharper: I can't believe it.

(08/03 19:07:15) phend: It's been a long time... for me to be gone.

(08/03 19:07:19) Douglas Sharper: Phil...I'm sorry,.

(08/03 19:07:47) phend: It wasn't you Douglas. It was what was.

(08/03 19:08:2 Douglas Sharper: I've been sick..it's so good to see you again.
(08/03 19:08:42) Douglas Sharper: Have you been with the Bahro?

(08/03 19:08:56) phend: It's good to see you again, too. I'm sorry I didn't come back sooner.
(08/03 19:09:12) phend: There has been much to learn.

(08/03 19:09:16) Douglas Sharper: I can't believe it.
(08/03 19:09:46) Douglas Sharper: Have you been with the Bahro?

(08/03 19:10:32) phend: Yes.

(08/03 19:10:46) TomahnaGuy: Oh! Which ones!?
(08/03 19:10:50) phend: They are gathering.
(08/03 19:10:56) Douglas Sharper: This war is scaring me.
.
(08/03 19:11:14) phend: This is only the beginning.

(08/03 19:11:23) Douglas Sharper: I was afraid of that.

(08/03 19:11:4 phend: Only a skirmish... at the periphery.

(08/03 19:12:17) Douglas Sharper: I killed one.

(08/03 19:12:2 phend: I know.

(08/03 19:13:25) Douglas Sharper: I may have made a mistake.
(08/03 19:13:52) Douglas Sharper: It stepped in front of me.

(08/03 19:14:00) phend: They protected us all from you making a mistake...
(08/03 19:14:1 phend: and it cost a life.

(08/03 19:14:55) Douglas Sharper: I was angry. Do you know what they did to Wheely?

(08/03 19:15:51) phend: I know. It was a choice. Wheely found a place she shouldn't have.

(08/03 19:16:15) Douglas Sharper: But do you know what they did to her?Her body...

(08/03 19:16:32) phend: There are evil ones.
(08/03 19:17:05) phend: They have chosen evil. Very evil.
(08/03 19:17:19) phend: They are free.

(08/03 19:17:3 Douglas Sharper: I have never seen anything like them.

(08/03 19:17:5 phend: They are also good. Some have chosen good.

(08/03 19:18:13) Douglas Sharper: And they have saved me.
(08/03 19:18:39) Douglas Sharper: More than once.

(08/03 19:19:01) phend: They saved us all from an early battle.

(08/03 19:19:21) Douglas Sharper: I'm not going back. I think it's coming here.

(08/03 19:19:51) phend: They will guard as long as they can.

(08/03 19:20:09) Douglas Sharper: And how long is that?

(08/03 19:20:16) phend: but there are larger battles elsewhere.
(08/03 19:20:36) phend: Much rests on the battles.

(08/03 19:21:03) phend: They choose...

(08/03 19:21:16) Douglas Sharper: I can't believe you are back Phil. IT's good to have you back.
(08/03 19:21:16) phend: they choose sides.
(08/03 19:21:3 phend: I'm here to prepare...

(08/03 19:21:47) phend: to help prepare.

(08/03 19:22:07) Douglas Sharper: And I'm with you.

(08/03 19:22:30) phend: You have chosen sides... I can see that.
(08/03 19:22:39) phend: They see it too.
(08/03 19:23:20) phend: Choose to stand with her.

(08/03 19:23:24) Douglas Sharper: I have seen the work of the evil. My choice was an easy one.

(08/03 19:24:14) phend: It's what comes first... a small statement... but a statement nonetheless.

(08/03 19:25:11) Tweek: Phil, do you know what is at the core of the choice the Bahro make?
(08/03 19:25:34) Church of Ralph: revenge?
(08/03 19:25:34) phend: What is at the core of any choice?

(08/03 19:25:55) Dalken Starbyne: Phill: Freedom?

[Bahro appear]

(08/03 19:28:37) phend: Show respect for Bahro that guard your lives.
(08/03 19:28:43) From [Relayer] Sharaya in [Relayer] Sharaya's Relto: The Bahro have left

(08/03 19:29:00) phend: I must go...

(08/03 19:29:09) phend: ... but he will return.

Interesting conversation. Any guesses as to who "he" is -- the one who will return?

He's publically admitted that he made a mistake. That isn't easy to do. It'll be interesting to see what he does next.
