Great interview Becky, thanks! The hotel looks wonderful, and I'd sure like to get my hands on the game. The simultaneous release business seems to delay...

You asked about real time Becky...
Quote:
Becky: "I understand that Dead Mountaineer's Hotel unfolds in real time. How exactly does this work?"

ElectronicParadise: "While playing, you have a hotel building at your disposal. You can move around it without any restrictions. You’ll come across hotel guests who also change their location in relation to yours, and you can communicate with them."
... headscratchand I wasn't sure what the answer meant. If it's a question about racing against the clock, do the Devs mean there will be no time constraints; no timed sequences? What d'ya think?

Am kind of disappointed that this won't be 1st person (so much eerier to wander around alone, running into others to interact with, from my point-of-view). Oh well, it's still so very tantalizing. Can't wait for its release.

bravoThank you for bringing us your great interview with some new, exciting news Becky!

It's been so long on the "Waiting" list that even though no specific release date was given, we know now that there's been some progress made, esp. with those beautiful screenshots.

I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. Carla was the one who arranged it -- I've added thanks to the opening post.

Carrie -- I actually asked specifically about timed sequences, but he didn't answer one way or another.

I think the Real Time aspect will be somewhat like that in The Last Express. The people will be moving around in the hotel (unlike the people in Nancy Drew: White Wolf of Icicle Creek, where the characters can always be found in the same place). I think this will make the game more realistic, but it does mean that if you realize that you have to talk to a specific character, you'll have to figure out where they are in the hotel at that particular moment.

I wouldn't consider that a timed sequence per se.

Thanks for the interview link! I remember posting a question here earlier this year on what was happening with the "Dead Mountaineer's Hotel" project....I'm glad to see it surface once more. wave

Love hearing from the developers. Great job Becky and Carla. Although he did not totally answer the questions. The game looks intriguing.

Thank becky and Carla. Sounds like an unusual game and kind of neat to have it in "real time".

My list of must haves already includes this one, Th screen shots of the hotel look beautiful. Can't wait for this one. In the meantime, maybe I should get started on the other 10 games I haven't played yet.(currently obssesed with hidden object games). Thanks Becky and Carla.

Becky, Thank you for clarifying that... & reminding me of the definition of Real Time! Seems that when I see "Time" with anything related to a game , my knee-jerk reaction is to panic (I'm OK nowpacify). I enjoyed that aspect of gameplay (playing in Real Time) in "Last Express"... really kept me on my toes, but wasn't stressful.

Excellent review Becky.
That looks like a fantastic game. Some of the screen shots remind me of Syberia 2.

Does anyone know the title of the book this game is based on?

Legolas -- there's more information here. Alternate titles: Hotel Of The Dead Alpinist (also known as Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle).

Thanks. I was hoping to maybe read the book, but it seems to be out of print now.

Fantastic interview Becky. bravo I was wondering what had happened to that game. I seen it advertised for so long and then it just seemed to disappear. Glad they're back in business. It looks like a good game, thanks for the info. wave

Beautiful screenshots!

Will the player actually be naming the character he thinks is guilty, or is it more a matter of just moving the story forward by eliciting the correct info?
