Hi - just wondered if many people have started to experience this? I 've had a few problems, I'm still on XP SP2 & it seems to have coincided with the launch of Vista! I'm not asking for tech help here, just need to know in general discussion whether anyone else has noticed any problems! - or am I the only one? scared smile

I have not experienced it and I think I have most of the newer games, downloaded and boxed.

Be sure to do regular cleanup and defragging. Also do regular error checking.

I'm happy with the newer games as well. I don't tweak my computer to play anything and have found they work fine. Sorry you have difficulties.

No compatibility problems with new games so far. I have WinXP Professional 5.1.

Running win XP Pro SP2 here, haven't had any compatibily problems yet, can you be more specific though on what the issue is?

Hey Chrissie - I've also been on XP home version SP2 for a few years now, and haven't had any problems with the newer games. I've had to upgrade my video card once, but that is the only issue I've faced so far...you can do "tweaks" in XP for some games (especially the Myst games) to get it running great....which games are you having issues with? wave

Hi, thanks for the replies - it's good to know that you haven't had problems - but I am completely baffled! Mag - I regularly do all the disc defrag & clean-up as well as virus scanning, registry keys, Ad Aware etc! I've also got a good graphics card with the latest driver, latest Direct X, latest Flashplayer etc etc! lol
Becky - I saw your system specs on a thread some time ago & know that you could launch a rocket with your PC! rotfl

To answer your question Butcher - I've had problems with a couple of downloadable games & a couple of demos e.g The Scruffs (I am waiting for a reply from BF about that one) & Yoomerjuk's Ring 'Cannot display in this video mode' & a couple of others just 'stick' & won't work. I have been to glitches with no joy!

I've tried a combination of resolutions etc BTW - nothing works!

I am beginning to suspect that the problem is in the downloads of particular games & to me just seems worse than it is as they were all in quick succession! I have successfully downloaded other games since!

I haven't really experienced any problems with newer games on Disc except for The Awakening which I was able to adjust when I found out how! & I always expect to have to fiddle around a little to get older games to work! They usually do!

thanks

Chrissie, I was able to download the demo for Yoomerjuk's Ring and play it with no problems. I wonder if it's something in your "msconfig" file? Maybe too many things launching at startup...??

(I'm just throwing out guesses...I'm not a computer expert - surely someone can help with this! luck)

Hi Renee, thanks for the 'guess'! It sounds worth going back to glitches, meanwhile I had a reply from Big Fish who have offered to take a look at my DiagX file which I have just sent as an attachment. What a great service!!!! - if they can work out what the problem with The Scruffs is hopefully it may also help with the mainstream AG demos!
